This is a very large repurposed convent with a beautiful pool, courtyard and garden areas. It seems to be favored by tourists, bicyclists and motorcycle riders as we saw all three groups.

The meals we ate in the refectory were extraordinarily good. The Venison in sauce on a bed of pineapple was absolutely spectacular, perfectly cooked. The sea bass was perfect, best of trip, and dessert of cherry mousse with raspberry sauce was Excellent. However the patience of Jobe is needed due to slow service as service is very understaffed. The staff were seen to be literally almost running from table to table!

If you want to park your car in the Parador de Plasencia garage and are not fearful of using a garage car elevator (you literally drive your car into an oversized elevator and descend to the parking level while in your car) here is a Google map link to the garage entrance on Calle Higuerillas https://goo.gl/maps/S7XMVQvFN1RLGnov9. Your car should not be too big and you should be comfortable parking in tight spaces (my car was a "small SUV" and the experience was fine but care was needed). Call when on Higuerillas and they will open the garage door for you (€15) or park on the street (which I don't recommend for security and being outside in the sun). You can also drive to the main Parador entrance within the old City, drop off your bags and then go park (which I don't recommend as it involves driving on very narrow streets with many pedestrians)

The hot water supply for the shower varied wildly in temperatures from far too hot to not hot enough. This definitely needs attention.

One of the best paradors in Spain. The building is amazing. A former 15th century convent, it differs from other historical paradors in it's the sheer size and how well the building has been maintained. There are nooks and crannys everywhere. The rooms are fairly typical red floor tiles and wooden windows but the bathrooms are new and the room decorated. The restaurant is excellent with delicious local produce. Highly recommended

This beautiful monastery has been converted into a lovely hotel. The original building is an architectural jewel and the conversion is well executed and respectful.
The bar/ cafeteria in the cloisters serves a very good selection of food, while the magnificent dinning halll serves a gourmet menu of local gastronomy. The wine list is also very good, and we enjoyed the wines of the Guadiana valley. The staff are professional and prompt.
A lovely terrace in the garden is a pleasant place to read. There is a swimming pool but it was not yet operating ( Early April). We parked the car in the garage for which there is a small additional charge. You drive the car into a lift / elevator to access the garage.

Add Parador de Plasencia to the top of your list of hotels to stay at in Spain! It is located in Extremadura, the far western part of the country.
Rooms: rooms are spacious with many offering a separate sitting area. There are wooden headboards and orange tiled floors. The bathrooms have been updated and include amenities - shampoo, shower gel, etc. There is also air conditioning, which is appreciated on days with temperatures over 40C.
Fitness & leisure: Ask the receptionist for access to the fitness room located underground. There’s a treadmill, stationary bike, free weights and weight machine with a bench. What’s more, there are showers and a sauna there too. The outdoor swimming pool is open in the summer, which is refreshing on hot days (August).
Food: the breakfast buffet offers regional specialities including multiple pastries and sweets, local cheese and meats. Come hungry as there are plenty of options to choose from and it’s even possible to order eggs (various styles) or churros.
Service: extremely friendly and helpful.
Parking: to check in, park in front of the hotel for a few minutes. The parking garage is accessed by driving around the back and taking an elevator. Recommend to not be in a rush to arrive or depart the parking lot as it can take some time.
Summary: this historic building was built in the 15th century as a convent complete with a gorgeous cloister that sheds lights into the ground and upper floors. It feels as though you’ve stepped back in time while in this well-preserved venue. Within walking distance to the other sites in Plasencia, this parador is a must when in Extremadura. Highly recommend!!

A monastery for monks built starting 12 century, the hotel chain Parador did a great job with restoration. I try to stay in Parados when ever I can. Fantastic bar and reasonable prices too. There is a wine cellar in the basement if for any reason it’s booked ask for a tour.

Excellent Parador right in old town. Level walk to Plaza Mayor. Car parking underneath hotel via car lift....large enough for our long and wide car. Beautiful pool and garden area. Good restaurant with good service. Excellent staff all round

Third visit. Love this place. Wonderful rooms, excellent food and brilliant staff. And the car ride in the lift is an interesting experience!

Again a memorable stay in this Parador. Breakfast timing to be reserved and excellent food choices. People very helpfull. Parking to be reserved to avoid full house but even then the Parador reception guided us to a public, covered parking (€17 for the night). At this time yearly city festivities with deejays playing (loud) dance music (rooms soundproof) in the city center.

A great parador, and definitely The Place To Stay in Plasencia. Apart from the historic building, it’s good as a hotel – the rooms are big and of a high standard. Right in the city, a few minutes walk to anywhere.
The car park is a bit scary, though - accessed by lift (for the cars) and manoeuvering can be problematic.

This is as Harry Potter as it gets south of the UK. Don't miss the stairs by the cafeteria. Impressive setting. Comfortable rooms. Friendly staff. Can't miss the car garage! A real experience

It's our third visit to the Parador.
It has an underground garage, which is useful as the dog came with us.
The Parador, a former Dominican monastery, is beautiful, with spacious bedrooms, the former monk's cells. (They lived well, though the monk's cells in the Parador de Corias are even bigger.)
The town is also lovely, and for those who like to jog, or walk, accompanied by a dog or not, there is a riverside walk and also a park on an island in the river which is close to the Parador.
There are lots of bars in the Plaza Mayor, I recommend Bar Español.

With a lot of taste in the middle of the old stone building. For people with a specific needs. Old yet modern.

This hotel will blow your mind. It is an ancient palace turned into a high-class hotel. Don't miss the late night vodka bar in the cellar.

Great location, in a 500 year old monastery. Very friendly service. Walls are a bit thin though

A beautiful place to stay in Plasencia. Sensitively restores and preserved. On a hot day, the cafe here is the most tranquil place to hangout and cool down.

Amazing place to stay in Plasencia in an incredible location. The hotel was a XV century convent.
