Hands down the best meal so far on what is my fourth Via de la Plata!
Scrumptious food, bursting with flavours screaming to be eaten. If you stay at el Casar de Caceres don't be silly and come and eat here.

I hope I can find other places like this.

Lovely place with Extremaduran cuisine. The dinner place does not open until around 9. The menu del mercado is well worth it for the sampling of different meats and the two cheeses. The meal itself is extremely filling. The service is excellent.

Come here and you'll be blown away. We had the 15 EUR daily menu (menu del dia, not available every day) for lunch and it was just amazing. Chicken risotto and pisto manchego as starters, albondigas and chicken thigh as seconds, cheesecake and arroz con leche as desserts, drink and bread included. Food magically instantly appeared on the table and all flavors were exquisite. Service was great, ample parking. All for 15 euros pp. This is the best value I've ever eaten so far, probably ever. .. Yeah, definitely ever.

We had a family lunch in Casa Claudio. The food was delicious. We all ordered the market menu (menú del mercado) which had a lot of variety. It consists of a starter, main course, dessert, water, beer or wine and bread for 28 euros.

Best place in the city based on internet reviews and tourist info advice. Tasty, high price-quality ratio, cheap and with a very convenient menu del día y menú a la carta (tencas & torta del casar gnammy). Go there, you won't regret it. Very kind service.

Stopped here for lunch, heading back to Bilbao. Obviously popular, busy, but staff friendly and attentive. Food was great, especially the artichokes and grilled octopus.

When one looks at it from the outside, one cannot imagine that such a magnificent banquet area is organized at the bank. The personnel is extremely polite and professional, service is fast, but excellent nevertheless and the portions are huge. Highly recommended, particularly for meat eaters.

Great surprise for us and worth the stop. We arrived at 8PM unaccustomed to Spanish dining hours and had a bottle of dry white wine (called dilema) which was excellent, on the front terrace. We also sampled the local ham, olives, and anchovies, which we loved.
At 9 Carolina warmly greeted us on the terrace and guided us through the bar and into a hallway which leads to the main dining room, a room clearly large enough to host large parties and smaller weddings. Though we speak no Spanish and she little English, we laughingly communicated through sign language. A wonderful evening.
We had the artichokes with ham and truffle oil, pork rinds called "torreznos," and the croquetas, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The tuna tartar was exceptional.
And who would know or think this small and charming village would host such a culinary sensation?
We stayed alone in this large room for an hour, learning of the canaries at the entrances to the room and singing along to a wonderful playlist coming in through an impressive sound system. We felt a bit sad to be alone in such an exceptional place, blaming Covid and its influence on the economy. No sooner did we verbalize our thoughts did scores of properly masked clients arrive because, so we had forgotten, the Spanish eat dinner as of 10!
Big thanks to the chef, apparently Claudio's son, the kitchen and bar staff, and in particular to Carolina, who helped make this a truly fun, enjoyable, and memorable evening.

We found this gem while driving from Sevilla to Madrid. It blew our mind with a tablecloth setting and chic menu options. Lobster salad and hake fillet were perfect, and the free deep fried pork belly served as great snacks. If you passes by around lunch time, it would be an awesome detour.

We stop here on our way to Valladolid. Surprise! A trendy place in this little town. Nice meal, good service and a lovely place.

A visit to extremadura, caceres is incomplete without visiting Casa Claudio in Casar de Caseres.
