I love shopping in food markets in foreign countries, because it gives me a sense of how locals live and eat. I don't get that sense here because this market is too tailored to tourists. In other words, it feels like a tourist trap.

There is a bit of food to sample, including the surimi substitute angula. Interesting story -- angula (baby eel) is a traditional Basque dish but the Spanish ate up so much of the eel, they turned to the Japanese to use surimi as substitute.

Anyway, I get plenty of surimi in the States, so I thought I would get some paella to commemorate my visit. Mistake. The shop that sells paella, the paella on the pan is cold!!! The server scooped from the pan, popped a bowl into the microwave, them served me the rice. Yay Uncle Ben....
