Cigarral del Ángel

Set in a beautiful country house about 2km outside of Toledo's old town, Cigarral del Ángel recently earned its second Michelin star. Chef Iván Cerdeño's dishes are highly creative but grounded in local traditions. It may be a bit too funky if you're not used to haute cuisine—but we loved it. You can choose between three tasting menus, which differ in length (and price: €80/110/145 per person). Since we arrived for lunch after 3:30pm, the long menu was not available anymore. So we went for the medium one ("Toledo olvidado"), which lasted about three hours and was more than filling. The dozen or so dishes were varied, sometimes surprising, always balanced and delicious throughout. Our favorite was the cold basil cream with ricotta, tomato and strawberries ("tomate, requesón y hierbas"). The presentation is beautiful as well. Overall, a fantastic experience—and rather affordable for a two-star restaurant.

We had our wedding here at Cigarral del Angel on the 24th September.

My partner and I, plus all of our guests, loved everything about it. Our friends have been telling us that they are cancelling their weddings because theirs won't be able to top this one. Starting with the location, which has incredible views of the city, but what stood out most were the staff there and their ability to put together such an awesome wedding.

Javier and Juan Pedro were incredible. Not only at the wedding, but even in the build up to the wedding, they were extremely helpful. Prior to the wedding, they both have such a calming presence which brought the stress levels of my fiance right down. During the wedding, they co-ordinated everything perfectly. If there was a slight hiccup; you wouldn't notice because everything was set straight immediately.

All of the waiters were fantastic, super attentive and friendly. A special mention to Eduardo, who was so helpful throughout the night and had such a good energy about him!

The food was the best food I've ever eaten and I'm pretty sure the best food I will ever eat. My friends said that usually they don't expect much from wedding food, but they were amazed.

The ceremony was done through a recommended (bilingual) marriage celebrant Sara Ferran, who did a great job of keeping it engaging and ensuring that it went for just the right length of time- no one likes a long wedding ceremony!

Lastly, the venue organised the DJ for us, who we thought did an outstanding job, as we loved the music right through to 6am!

If there was one negative, it was related to taxis. It was a bit tricky to get taxis, particularly at the end of the night, but apparently it was due to external circumstances (something about multiple events happening in the city of Toledo at the same time).

Knew it would be the best night of my life, but Cigarral del Angel exceeded my expectations.

Tldr:
Don't waste your time looking at other venues, just book this one.

Put yourself in the hands of the staff at Cigarral del Angel (CDA) - you won't regret it. I planned my wedding with Javi, Sara, and their team from the US during COVID-19 -- not the best of circumstances, and yet it felt pretty seamless. For someone who was not very excited about planning a wedding, the CDA team was amazing. An a la carte menu of options for how to create your magical day, delicious food that guests are going to go CRAZY over, and a stunning venue that will leave even those who know Spain well with their mouth open. I am not ready to have a wedding ever again, but if I were to do it, I would 100% go back to Javi and his team at the CDA. The saddest part was that the whole day only lasted 12h!

Cigarral del Angel is an amazing spot with outstanding views of Toledo. The food is very good and the manager Oscar is very kind and a wonderful person. The staff was very professional. Maybe the best spot in Toledo to have a drink and dinner.

The best place to get married in Toledo and possibly all of Spain! We live in the states, so we planned our wedding long distance. The cigarral made it easy for us! We got married last year in May, and we still continue to receive complements from our guests (both from Toledo and those that traveled) about the experience and service they received during our wedding! Thank you to all the staff for an amazing and beautiful wedding day.

This place is an absolute fairytale. There is nothing I can say that can explain how beautiful this venue is. From the moment we entered the gates, our breaths were completely taken away.

Cigarral del Angel has two different “zones” to choose from, and they are both uniquely beautiful. We chose the zone by the river (Zona del Rio) because we wanted the city of Toledo to be in the background of our photos. Though slightly more expensive, it was definitely worth the cost.

Throughout the property, there are many different sections and places that you can go to take photos (much to the delight of our photographers and guests). This also means that you have the choice of having the ceremony, cocktail, reception, and dance in different areas of the venue at no extra cost. All of the sections within the zone are accessible to you, even if you choose not to use them.

For us, the experience didn’t end there. Miriam & the staff at Cigarral del Angel were AMAZING. From start to finish, Miriam was there to answer all my questions and assist with every single detail. I need to also mention that I do not live in Spain, so the entire wedding planning process was done by only email. This was not easy at all because I had so many requirements, and Miriam was able to grant every single one of my wishes. I had so many special requests, and all of them were fulfilled happily, quickly, and patiently. When Miriam did not have the answer, she would find out for me and answer me as soon as possible. In fact, if you get married here, you do not need a wedding planner because Miriam will take care of everything for you. The best part of the planning process was how patient Miriam was. There were so many details and factors that I was not able to finalize until a week before the wedding and I was never rushed to make a decision.

Finally, the wedding day—how beautiful and perfect it was! When we visited Cigarral del Angel the first time, it was a rainy day, but still beautiful. On our wedding day, the weather was sunny and the venue was a million times more breathtaking than we imagined it to be. It was like a fairytale. Everything was perfect: the ceremony, the cocktail, the extra services, the decorations, the reception, and the dance.

Cigarral del Angel was even better than the dreams I had for my wedding. I am so happy we selected this venue because I don’t think anywhere else could have been better than this. Every single one of our friends and family had to travel long distances to come to Toledo for our wedding, and they were all so impressed with the venue and the whole execution. Thank you, Miriam & the Cigarral del Angel team for everything you’ve done for our special day. We cannot thank you enough!

Nuestra boda: muy muy bien! 🥰 queremos plasmar nuestro agradecimiento a todo el equipo, porque, no solamente nuestra opinión, también la de absolutamente todos los invitados… fue todo excelente. Conseguimos generar ya desde la recepción de los invitados una atmósfera de buen rollo y coordinación perfecta con el equipo del Ángel custodio, de sintonía, de alegría y de amor que se contagió (llorasteis hasta los del staff) y predispuso todo a que fuese inolvidable. La organización, la música, la comida, el confort, el servicio,… todo 👌
El espacio es perfecto por comodidades, lugares para fotografiarse, vistas, etc. el staff más atento y coordinado no pudo estar desde el primer día de contacto hasta incluso después. Y ¿qué decir de la comida? Un restaurante de alta cocina que no defrauda. La diversión asegurada con un Dj (Iván) que da dinamismo y sabe qué música poner para que no caiga el ánimo de fiesta, el metre (Valentín) atentísimo, pensando en todo y desde Produccion (Mercedes) también pensando en todo y en prácticamente servirnos los pensamientos. Mil gracias son pocas

Que gran suerte tuvimos con todo el equipo del Cigarral, desde pequeña siempre soñé en casarme allí y todo el equipo desde la primera reunión con Miriam hasta decidir todos los detalles de la mano de Javi, ayyy Javi cuantísimo te agradecemos el trato que nos diste, ese cariño desde el 1º día, esa mano tendida para todo lo que necesitábamos, ese abrazo cómplice según bajamos del coche, todo te lo debemos a ti, gracias por tu gran cariño y profesionalidad, no lo pudiste hacer mejor! Boda de Susanna y Luca 26/04/24 - Cuando la realidad supera el sueño. El lugar nos cautivó por su belleza única y así enamoró a todos nuestros invitados que venían de todas partes. Sin embargo, la sorpresa más grande fue la atención y extraordinaria humanidad del equipo - un afectuoso saludo para Mercedes y Eduardo quienes han convertido esta aventura en un recuerdo inolvidable para mi, ¿Quién necesita a una wedding planner cuando se tiene a dos fenómenos así? - Además, la exquisitez del cocktail y de la cena dejó impresionados a todos nuestros invitados. 5 estrellas no bastan para valorar el lugar.. Dicen que la perfección no existe.. ¡eso es que no se han casado en el Cigarral del Ángel Custodio! Grazie mille
