This restaurant is amazing. It is so beautiful and it probably looks just like it did when Ernest Hemingway ate here. I was so excited to eat here, since the restaurant is mentioned frequently in the book, The Sun Also Rises. The food is excellent. The menu is clearly marked, w each entry labeled appropriate or inappropriate for celiacs. My meal was delicious. The daily meal is reasonably priced and includes an appetizer, entree, dessert, wine, and water. We loved this place so much we ate here twice during our short stay in Pamplona.

Did not have food, just drinks outside (we have a dog). Service was good and the place was just fabulous. Great atmosphere, even at lunchtime.

The three course meal with wine & bread (23 euros on weekdays) was absolutely delicious & the meals were generous servings. Beautiful setting and staff as well- they provided me with an English menu which was helpful :) definitely recommend, especially the dessert

Good food from this really old café that Hemingway used to frequent. We had salad, ham croquettes, Jamon Serrano w Idiazabal Cheese Sandwich and a chocolate cake - a quick heavy snack as we skipped lunch. All very good specially the sandwich! They give a bread basket too. Quick and polite service. Recommended.

Our tour group of 40 had tapas and sangria here. Excellent food and drinks was the overall concensus. They were ready for us as this outing was prearranged. Service was fast, the food was delicious, and the sangria was amazing.
The best sangria I have ever had. Apparently, lemonade and cinnamon are the secret ingredients.
A large room filled with many tables, noisy because of so many people chatting. I loved it! Lots of atmosphere, and filled with tourists, and locals who probably are regulars.
Quite eclectic. If we had time, I would have stayed longer to soak up the atmosphere, and the interior architecture. I felt like I was in a movie.
This 1888 restaurant is located in the Plaza del Castillo. This main plaza in Pamplona has a history because of the Running of the Bulls. Apparently Ernest Hemingway used to hang out here when he visited for the San Fermin festival.
I am not easily wowed by a place such as this because of why it is famous, but this place, I definitely was. So beautiful inside.
There is also a large patio outside for the summer tourist season.
This place must be insanely busy when the city expands from 200,000 to 1 million in July during the San Fermin festival.

This historic bar is an absolute must to visit when in Pamplona. They have a very large terrace on the square, but I advise you to sit inside, to admire the grand interior. No need to say more, this place is mentioned in every tourist guide...

This was my 3rd visit to Café Iruña, once in 2015 when walking the Camino, then in 2016 I took my Mum there as part of a road trip we were on and now in 2024 I’m back again as part of another road trip.

I absolutely love the place, obviously Hemingway has helped make the café (and Pamplona) famous and because of that there is a full size sculpture of him in the back bar (a classic photo opportunity 😺)

If you go to Pamplona then you should definitely come here, the place has so much character and style …I’m sure you will love it too! 🥰

On our first day we were looking around and thought Iruna would be too expensive for us. I was stunned, given how beautiful the restaurant is, how affordable the meals were. We went there the two nights we were in Pamplona. The food and service is really great.

Try the confit duck as a main and the sorbet with cava for dessert.

I'm not familiar with the cultural standards in restaurants. I took a seat for a while and people watched. Eventually I simply approached the bar and ordered. It was an enjoyable visit with polite and helpful staff. Definitely a great place to check out whether you're a Hemingway fan or not. Beautiful interior!

Here at 11:30 am. Great vibe of Spanish speaking folk inside. Great decor. Service no English but fun assertive efficient. Was very surprised at cost and quality of food. Coffee and delicious looking thing was only 3.30 Euros. Was good an not the tourist trap at this time I was expecting. I am going to chill out with a coffee and study my reading material enjoy the wifi / vibe. Outdoor seating also looks great.

A beautiful old style cafeteria, with lots or room. The food is really good, with lots of options and they come in great portions. I would recommend the sandwich of chistorra.

Iruña is the Basque name for Pamplona, literally meaning "the city".
Café Iruña was established in 1888, with a Belle Époque interior.
The restaurant is closely associated with the writer Ernest Hemingway, who frequented it during his visits to Pamplona, especially while covering the San Fermín festival. The café is mentioned in his novel "The Sun Also Rises".

One of the best caffes in Spain!
High ceilings, space, on the main square of the city, churros, coffee, lots of people.
And also a statue of Hemingway.

The food is ok, but all the rest is oustanding.
