The reports are true. It is the best Steak in the world. This was a pilgrimage
For me so I asked the waiter to hit me with the full degustation and any wine they recommended. The pairing was sublime. The restaurant is carved into the stone hills like an ant farm which creates a unique atmosphere. The kids thought is was so cool. The maitre’d even gave us a tour of their wine cellar. My favourite Dining experience so far

We had been wanting to go for a long time and it didn’t disappoint. Great service and a beautiful place, within an old wine cellar that feels like a cave and the food was amazing: we had the morcilla de buey and fried empanadas as a starter and we finished with an impressive 1.4 kg chuleta de buey. The house wine, El Chano, was excellent too. All in all a great experience and hope to come back soon!

The best steak I've ever had, and I've had a few. So much so I can't look at other steaks the same way again. The rest of the courses were really good too, and I was really surprised by how good the roast silverside was. The house wine was really good too.

I came all the way from Australia just for this and it was worth the flight and the extra drive from Madrid 😂

We had the "El Homenaje" tasting menu with 12 courses and 2 desserts and it was absolutely fantastic! Amongst the initial appetizers the Tartar with caviar was delicious and I would be back just for that. All the different cuts of cured meats were also really enjoyable and with a very distinct and unique flavour each. The entire menu is very well balanced and despite so many courses by the time you get to the main event of the José Gordon Ox Chop, you don't feel full or tired and are totally ready to enjoy the best meat in the world! We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and hope we'll be back some time for a special occasion.

Incredible place with some of the best Ox meat I have ever tried. You are able to see how the Ox live and are well kept, the restaurant and setting is incredibly (you are in the old winery thats carved into caves), with a wine selection of 500+ wines, matured “cecina”, and an incredibly dedicated chef.

I would recommend everyone to come to live this amazing experience.

No doubt this is one of the greatest steak experiences on earth. The flavor and meatiness of the ox steak is so intense its transcendental. Also don’t miss the cecina, salted and preserved in a cave for 4 years. Unforgettable meal!

Jose Gordon has created a magical place inside his grandfather's bodega. It feels like you're in a Christopher Nolan Directed fairytale. The most beautifull wine cellar I have ever seen.

But the main reason to come here is of course the food and accompanying wine. Its not a cheap place to eat, but I can say for certain that this was, without a doubt, the best beef I have ever had in my life. The Ox chop was the star of the night, so packed with flavour, nothing comes close to that, not even A5 kobe beef (some people might disagree, of course some people have other preferences) but that chop was in a league of its own. But let's not forget the other preparations they do cause they are worth a mention as well: the roast beef, the steak tartaar, the bone marrow and their selection of cured meats was absolutely fantastic as well. They even used the ox tallow (fat) to bake a cake and they used that to make a dessert.

As shown in my pictures they have got an amazing wine selection, but I decided to go with their home made red wine called El Chang and it was divine, probably the best pairing you will get with all that beef.

This is something everyone has to do at least once in their life, it was so beautifull.

For some reason Google Maps keeps blocking my review so I will keep it short and simple. Great food, great restaurant, good service and phenomenal experience!

I really can not recommend this place more!! It was amending, the service was fantastic and we had some great recommendations in terms of wine pairing from the region. The tartare was the best I’ve ever had, the fillet with tuna tartare was incredible!! I really wouldn’t have thought they would go together. We went for a 1.4kg of premium steak and it was cooked to perfection! We then had rice pudding and flan for dessert. It’s pricey but you will likely not find another place like this so I’d definitely say it’s worth it. One thing to note is for the starters, you can order 1/2 a portion and that size would suffice for 2 people sharing.

All other steaks will now taste inferior. This is the holy grail of meat, it's quite a journey to get there but once you've arrived you quickly realize it is worth the time and money it commands.

My husband and I decided to visit Spain in 2018 after watching a Netflix documentary saying this was the best steak in the world. We are from Texas and love our beef. We weren't disappointed. The beef tartare was to die for! We were so excited that I forgot to take a picture of the steak. It was amazing. And our server was amazing too.

If you love meat then you should definitely visit. This is not a typical restaurant. The experience we had and the service was amazing.
First of all Jose Cordon is a simple guy that really loves to choose and offer the best available meat.
Yes. It may seem expensive but I really cannot put a price to this experience.
I envy those who live nearby and have the opportunity to visit this place often.
Gracias Jose !

Meat lover’s paradise! In the tiny village of Jiménez de Jamuz, close to La Bañeza, province of León, some 300 kilometers away from Madrid. Choose Ox rib steak José Gordón's selection . Best meat on planet earth and one of the most amazing private cellars in Spain where you can dine as well !

Lot of hipe about this place and it is worth it.

The main meat was spectacular and all dishes were great and we enjoyed most the Main Meat, the Tartare and the Bone Marrow.

Would love to try more dishes.

Thank you to Mr Gutierrez who was in charge of our table

And sometimes fantasies come true. Several years ago we saw a tv show about the best steak in the world and this family farm was declared as having the best steak on the world. I had this fantasy of getting here, and many years later we found ourselves getting here. As we live in Israel it wasn’t simple. After flying to Barcelona, and then another flight to Asturias and then a long drive to Jimenes de Jamus we finally arrived to Bodega el Capricho. It’s like entering an underground temple. Sitting in the cave like cubicle, with no wifi or 3/4 g increases the experience even before the extraordinary food. The first dishes were fantastic, especially local mushrooms with just olive oil and salt and the divine carpaccio. The Gordon selection was absolutely the finest piece pf meat you can dream about. And the desert was a holly combination of tastes and textures. The wine that the sommelier choose was great. The service was outstanding. My only question is why don’t they have a Michelin star/s ? I would give them all the stars for making my fantasy come true. It was definitely worth our long trip and we are sure to make it again.

Built in the countryside where it use to be a wine storage facility, el Capricho lives up to its name of being spectacular.

When you arrive to this place you know you're in another world: you can see the wine cellars as a Hobbit land. The key value is the ox meat, presented as carpaccio, cecina (special dried meat from Leon), steak tartar, sirloin, t-bobe or into tea pastes made with ox fat... As we were two persons and we want to taste some things, waiter recommended us half rations: it was a good idea as we tested carpaccio, cecina and peppers baked in wood as starters and sirloin as main. All the meat were awesome, with smooth flavor preserved on mouth (Yumi!). But my preferred thing was the tea pastes: really good! The price is high according with the quality, maybe the special t-bone is too expensive but also suffer a high quality process for selection: as the name of the place it's a Capricho (caprice).

Well worth the stop between Madrid and Coruña. Very tasty carpaccio, cecina (cured meat) and, of course, the t-bone is the main attraction; however, we also tasted their aged beef from 'old cow', and it was also delicious.

Outstanding wine selection well chosen and looked after by their sommelier. Friendlier chefs than serving staff though, which is weird.

Their ethos is second to none when it comes to animal welfare and process - their cattle (oxen) can be seen nearby and looks healthy, the process for butchering, hanging/ageing/curing and cooking is also exceptional (and not so common in Spain, maybe more so in the north).

Amazing! Expensive, but much more than a meal, a whole experience! Best meal of my life without a doubt.
