Casa Galego Alojamiento

Wow! The best place along the whole camino whether you stop overnight or just for lunch. This is a family run business and a great example of supporting a changing local economy in Spain (they used to be ranchers for generations on this land and have now built and operate this beautiful auberge on the same land since 2022). Food was fresh and healthy and the building was perfectly built for the pilgrim centric experience (Scandinavian style and spotless clean, laundry on site, Apple computer for emailing, New Yorker magazines and international books along window seats for chilling). The owner is the sweetest host along the whole camino, and truly cares about making your individual experience special. Five stars for this place!!!!!!

Stayed here for one night during my Camino and booked a private room in the hope of enjoying my rest day. Even though Fonfria has absolutely nothing to offer (there’s just one other Albergue here), I loved staying at Casa Galego to relax completely. The hotel is clean and modern, the owner is nice and the views of the mountains just beautiful. Also enjoyed some good food. Would recommend if you’re in the middle of your Camino and looking for some relaxation.

This is the best hotel I have stayed in on the Camino - a total delight to discover it whilst I was walking through the mountains. The owners really are welcoming and go the extra mile to help and to sort out any questions in creative and generous ways. Fantastic service, gorgeous building and rooms, and delicious food. I totally recommend a stay here.

This place is amazing and has stunning views. Nestled in the tiny village of Fonfria, it was just the peaceful and comfortable place I needed to rest while on the Camino. It is newly renovated and modern, with a beautiful and calming interior. The staff are warm and pleasant, and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The food is delicious. Washing machine and dryer are available for use. I would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend it!

It’s the one of the best Camino’s hotel place ever. Design is modern and fashion. Whole place is clean and bright, the place is relaxing and woman who work here is nice and kindly. The grass in front of the hotel is vast. The meal is delicious and price is reasonable.Highly recommend to everyone especially for the pilgrims.

This is one of the nicest places to stay on the Camino Frances. Everything is modern, clean, and comfortable, the food and service were excellent, and we were even able to watch a bit of Netflix after a long day of walking. The town isn't a main stopping point for peregrinos so it was very quiet and peaceful. If you're looking to go a bit off the recommended stages this is the place to do it.

One of my most memorable stay on the camino. A bit of a splurge, but very well worth it ! The albergue is only one year old and everything about it is top notch

Also, the lady that takes care of the cooking and reception can make a very mean burger !!! Make sure to have one after your long walk!

The place is really new, clean and common area is also spacious. I really like their dinner, the soup and steak are so well cooked - not too salty and they can replace fried potatoes with salad ! Which I’m so much appreciated. Even though they don’t speak English but they strive to make you understand. The only thing I would suggest is to check price on booking.com ahead, because it says eur 47 for double room but they say it’s eur 50. Overall I’ll still recommend to people for staying.

My new stop!

One of my most treasured moments along the Camino was when out of the rain and mist appeared Casa Galego. I can’t recommend it highly enough for a respite along the way, whether you stop in for a homemade meal or spend the night. Clean and modern yet filled with local charm and warm hospitality, Casa Galego is a true gift of the Camino. Muchas gracias para todo!

One of the best meals we have had along the Camino De Santiago, at an excellent price, cooked and served by very nice staff. A great discovery as they only opened the doors last year

Amazing Casa Rural. For the price the best I stayed in on the Camino. Chef was great. The whole package is great for pilgrims who just hiked up the mountain.

Unfortunately we didn't know about this before, or we'd have tried to stay here, we found it by chance and it was the best stop on the Camino from Las Herrerías to Tricastela. Great food and super friendly owner.
