On the recommendation of a local shop worker (we often find this a good way to find out where the locals eat!), my wife and I visited Pizzeria Restaurante, La Xara, as we were advised that the ‘food was good and reasonably priced at this recently opened pizzeria’. How true those words were!
Once we found the pizzeria, we struggled to understand some of the Spanish words but the helpful waiter phoned his friend to help us out with our struggles, and we duly ordered our 2 Puchero’s (soup’s/ stews), only to be told that one between us would be enough as it was ‘muy grande’, very helpful, very honest…
… and very delicious, a mix of pork, minced meats stuffed in cabbage, chicken and very chunky veg complete with a light stock and chicken based, noodle soup. All very tasty and plenty for us both. 2x Coffee, a dessert calzone, glass of wine and a coke were all enjoyed too.
Once we’d paid, I complimented the waiter on the great food, and he told the owner (who was in the kitchen) and we had a brief chat, where the food was complimented on again. The Neapolitan owner is clearly passionate and proud about the food he and his staff deliver, advising that we should visit again on an evening where authentic Italian pizza and other Italian dishes are the highlights on the menu.
Another great barometer of popularity, we believe, is the number of locals who feel at home at an eatery, and a good number were in evidence, inside and outside, on the day we visited.
We were also able to use the restaurant's Wi-Fi, which was handy.
Go if you get the chance, you won’t regret it!

Ambiente de bar, personal muy amable y unas pizzas de escándalo. Puede parecer algo caro, pero vale mucho la pena. Suele estar bastante lleno, por lo que recomiendo reservar, pero si se puede, los camareros te buscan un sitio donde sentarte y sentirte como en casa.

Un lloc molt bó pa menjar pizza, entre altres. També pots esmorzar amb preus molt assequibles. Els cambrers són molt servicials, sempre amb una sonrisa, i Walter te unes manetes pa la pizza que et deixa bocabadat
