Today I had the pleasure of dining at Porrue in Bilbao, and I must say, it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The food, the service, and the entire ambiance were nothing short of extraordinary.

From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm hospitality that set the tone for the evening. The service was impeccable, with the staff attentive to every detail, making sure that our dining experience was flawless.

As for the food—each dish was a delightful surprise, bursting with creativity and flavor. The chef’s ability to combine traditional Basque ingredients with modern culinary techniques resulted in a series of dishes that were not only visually stunning but also incredibly delicious. Every bite was full of wonderful surprises, making it clear that Porrue is a place where culinary passion and innovation thrive. As a personal preference, I will recommend the amazing tomatoes, the octopus an the tuna.

The entire experience at Porrue was one of discovery and delight, leaving us thoroughly impressed. If you're in Bilbao and looking for an exceptional dining experience, Porrue is an absolute must-visit. However don’t forget to book a table just to be sure you will find one available!

Don't go here and don't take the taste menu if you don't want to have unique experience.
Also if you don't want to increase your expectations.

Absolutely stunning meal at Porrue !! Can’t recommend enough. Seasonal tasty food beautifully presented by lovely staff. A real gem and definitely Michelle star standard.

Excellent wine selection too. Don’t need afraid to ask for recommendations. We had shrimp to start with warm egg that looked like a work of art. Then a whole sea bass and steak tartar that was served with tiny little hand made fries.

The tables are big and set wide apart so you have space and privacy. The decor is very unusual, we just loved the whole experience. Sorry I didn’t take photos now. But we were just enjoying the experience too much!!

One of the best experiences I have had dining recently. The staff was a big factor. Paula was fantastic. Great knowledge of food and the dishes being served, but also a good human with a fine heart. The rest of the staff was also great. Made me feel welcomed, as a family would. They brought me a corn bread dish, and a fried lotus root app. Both were tasty. I want to try making lotus root dishes now, so thanks for the inspiration. Had the octopus. This was a bit heavy on the salt for my palette. If didn’t let the Octopus shine. But again, that’s my taste buds. Really happy I dined here.

Deserves 1 Michelin star. Everything was exceptional. Bravo guys!

When traveling to Bilbao we wanted to start our holiday with a nice dinner to set the mood for this great city. We found this restaurant near our hotel - based on the pictures and reviews we had to give it a try.

Reservation was hassle free via their website and the confirmation arrived minutes after the request on our mailbox.

The interior is simplistic but homely and stylish. We opted for the tasting menue with wine pairing. The sommelier did a marvelous job of explaining all the wines their origin the story of the winery and why they got with the current course. It was a great cross selection of different wines from Spain - off the beaten path so to speak - and some french wines as an addition.

The food was all around exceptional and with a lot of surprises. We especially enjoyed the barnacles, the fish course and the magnificent deserts.

The price of the tasting menue is a great value for what you get in return especially considering the two main dishes of fish and ox steak.

We even had the chance to speak with the chef during our dining experience who was a great host. The staff here is super friendly, attentive and knowledgeable and eager to chat with you.

All around the start to our Bilbao visit couldn't have been better. Thanks!!!

A must visit place! Simply amazing 🤩 so welcoming staff, ambience of this place is magical and calm. The food is just amazing. The taste of food and all the dishes is magnificent. Beautiful starters, the juicy tomatoes and peppers were fab. Smoked calm - so different & the lamb… oh the dish was perfect! Meat was so smooth and delicate but at the same time delicious. Very nice place! Thank you guys for making our evening so special!

This was the best meal I had in Bilbao. Food and staff were exceptional. Bilbao is a really great city to visit but I would really love to go back there just to eat here agaim.

Splendid meal, impeccable service and very fresh and modern recipes. You'll be amazed by their professionalism! Definitely the best high class restaurant in Bilbao.

The food was amazing, we took 3 'productos', starter plates to share and they came as a dish per person. Every plate looked wonderful and tasted amazing. We ate the verduras starter, pulpo and tartare of tuna. The people are super friendly as well

If you venture in the area definitely check this place out! Hands down the best tasting menu my husband and I have ever tried. They had amazing wine pairings. This place was beyond expectations and I say that with very mixed feelings. If your traveling here as a non local I wouldn’t recommend. We’re non local and it felt very hostile in the area (Bilbao in general). We visited here in the earlier hours due to that. The staff here though never made us feel displaced and we felt quite welcomed. I wish we could visit this place every time we go to Spain! It’s truly a gem. The people outside the restaurant make it hard to do so unfortunately. Hopefully one day the area will be more welcoming to travelers. This place truly is unique in its own right.

We took the degustation menu and it was great mix of dishes. Service was great ! Excellent value for the price.

Delightful Dinner. Highly recommend! My husband and I stumbled into Porrue exhausted and hungry after searching for an open restaurant on Good Friday. They graciously fit us in with no reservation, although I would recommend a reservation. The service was impeccable, food creative and delicious and they did a great job helping us pick a hidden gem on the wine list at a reasonable price. The service was great and staff friendly. Alas we live in the US or we would go back.
