Vilalba dels Arcs is not among the castles included in the Miravet endowment of 1153, nor in the list of Super Order Sites, contained in Miravet Customs (1319).

The first known document that speaks of Vilalba dels Arcs is the village letter that on 10 April 1224 the Templar Commander of Miravet and Ribera, Bernat de Campanas, grants to a group of four settlers and to which one would like to add.

This document already speaks of the castle and that the commander is reserved parallel. What is not clear, however, is whether the castle already existed (since the document describes, as if we existed, several facilities of the population among which the castle).

When the district of Ribera was dissolved in 1236 and subsidiary orders became independent from Miravet, Vilalba became part of the Ascó home portal.

In 1317, When the Order of the Temple was dissolved, the population went to the hospital.
