Vigo is a lovely town, full of history, we stopped here for half a day from our cruise ship, but would have loved to stay longer 😀

Nice place to take coffee in the morning and to walk and spend time in afternoons. Also you may make your electronic shopping from MediaMarkt and buy luxury clothes and sweets. Many parties and activities also takes place in the place in summer.

Great cruise terminal close to the city centre. Scanning of bags appears to be efficient and we experienced very small queues although we were on a largish ship

Just great to be able to walk down the gangway basically into the town. Some very interesting sculpture on view, plenty of shops and eateries available. Really enjoyable first stop on our cruise and I'm told unusually sunny for that area. Even the 'lookie lookie guys were pleasent and not overbearing. Lovely town.

Probably the best cruise ship port I've been to. Beautiful open space with boats and shops and artworks. Immediately leads on to the village market centre

Vigo is the base for the big fishing companies which have prominent presence in countries such Namibia, South Africa, Mozambique, Australia, Argentina, the Falkland Islands, Chile and Peru, among others. Fish is sent all over Spain and abroad to countries like Portugal, Italy, France and other more distant markets including Asia.

In Vigo, important international trade fairs are held, like Conxemar, an annual event dedicated to frozen fish products. The World Fishing Exhibition takes place periodically. The shipbuilding tradition begins in to the early Twentieth century, with the appearance of the first small steam fishing boats. One of these early models, known as the “Vigo type steamer” was very popular all around the coast of Spain and North Africa. Hundreds of this type were built.

Another decisive moment of development was in the 1960s, when the new freezer trawlers, which revolutionised the fishing industry, were first built. Vigo shipyards have always been leaders in the field of fishing vessels and a constant point of reference.

Good spot, close to restaurants and the shopping area, but also the historical downtown area.
