Bar Pego Z&E

An English bar? Well, must be that the owners changed again as I can see nothing particularly English there.

I once went there with some German friends and wanted to invite them to a "granizado". Grano = grain. Granizo = hail. Granizado = a softdrink made of crushed ice that comes in many different flavours and many different colours. Generally, most bars offer Granizado with flavours like coffee, lemon and orange.

But this bar offers the whole pallete! I asked the waiter which flavours are on offer today and he rushed to bring us the Granizado menu! He was a humourous character and after we had ordered Granizados in yellow, orange, green and lilac, he brought them immediately and we had such a laugh with him!

The food is good as far as I have tried it, but then I wouldn't order English food in a Spanish bar, but proper Spanish dishes and they are great here!

But the best thing about this bar is that it is situated next to the open space where the "mercadillo" takes place very Thursday. What a vantage point here, if you come early with some friends and get a table before the bar gets full. You can sit and amuse yourself watching the toing and froing around the market and you can take turns visiting the stalls buying what you fancy knowing that when you come back, there is a chair and a good selection of drinks and food waiting for you.

And finally, there is a "mercat de terra" opposite this bar every second Saturday of the month where local people sell everything that is REALLY home grown or home made. Again, if you come early, get a table at the Bar Pego, have a drink and a "bocadillo" and enjoy the "mercat de terra".

A nice place to stop for a drink and nibbles. Staff and locals alike are very friendly. Good service, very reasonable prices. Some of the staff have very good English and they seemed to understand my Spanglish!

Terrasse ombragée et serveur très aimable et efficace. Nous avons pris le menu del dia : cuisine délicieuse et plats très copieux. Le poulpe, servi entier pour 1 personne, était bien cuit, grillé à point et très tendre... un régal ! Belle découverte loin de l'agitation et des resto bondés .

Los domingo estaban todos los bares cerrados par desayunar por el centro del pueblo y acabamos aquí afortunadamente. El camarero muy amable. La tosta de pan riquísima y precio bueno. En la terraza muy agradable.

Hemos ido por casualidad sin conocerlo y nos ha encantado. El servicio muy bueno, atento y amable. La comida buenísima, relación calidad-precio ajustada. Muy recomendable el pescaíto frito.

Un bar tranquilo bajo la sombra de árboles en su plaza, una comida casera como las de antaño, recordando a la cocina antigua, atendido por sus dueños con una buena atención, respeto y simpatía. Recomendado 💯

Cafetería en Pego, situada en el corazón del pueblo, donde tomar unas buenas tostadas para desayunar y un buen café. Personal muy atento y amable, te hacen sentir a gusto.

Vamos a este bar muy a menudo para tomar algo. La atencion siempre muy buena y la comida tambien muy buena!

Menu du jour très copieux et très bon rapport qualité prix. Pour 12€ : salade, croquetas, plat , boisson.

Très bon café, service rapide avec une terrasse à l'ombre, serveurs sympathiques, prix très correct je recommande 👍
