Haile Grand Addis Ababa

The staff at this hotel are exceptional. They were all incredibly kind and attentive. That is what made the biggest impression on me. The kitchen is open 24/7 which is amazing if you are hungry late at night. The spa was great, I really enjoyed my massage and the steam room. Very comfortable place to stay when visiting Addis.

I recently stayed at Haile Grand Hotel in Addis Ababa for five days from October 17th to October 21st, 2023, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. The hotel surpassed my expectations in every aspect. The room services were excellent, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant stay throughout. The hotel maintains high standards of cleanliness, creating a welcoming and hygienic environment. The ambiance of the hotel is delightful, providing a serene and relaxing atmosphere for guests.

One of the highlights of my stay was the delicious food served at the hotel. The culinary offerings were exquisite, with a wide variety of dishes to choose from, each prepared with care and attention to detail. Additionally, the gym and sauna facilities were top-notch, providing guests with the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate after a long day.

Overall, I highly recommend Haile Grand Hotel for vacations, workshops, and other events. It offers exceptional facilities, impeccable service, and a truly enjoyable experience for guests. I look forward to returning in the future

I am a native Ethiopian who travels from the U.S. to Addis once a year to visit my mom. Me and my sister spent about 7 nights at Haile Grand in February 2024 and it blew away our expectations and these are the reasons why.
1. Customer Service - the entire crew (from the busboy to room service to cleaning crew to front desk reception) have been exceptionally friendly, always helpful, and genuinely execute the hotel’s service approach “Yichalal”, which is an Amharic word meaning it is possible. All my asks were always met with a yes response without any reservation by every staff member, and that is very hard to find these days in the service industry.
2. Accommodations- after a very lengthy and tiresome flight from the U.S., we were allowed to have an early check-in and presented with amazingly refreshing fresh juice varieties and warm wet towels for our hands that were relaxing. In addition, since we have a late flight, we were also allowed to have a late check-out time without any issues.
3. Food - there are several food options. There is a HUGE variety of free breakfast buffet with fresh fruits, juice, pastries, Ethiopian traditional breakfast food options, and western breakfast options, all made fresh and truly delicious.
4. Entertainment- the hotel has a cultural restaurant with special cultural nights a few times a week with live traditional entertainment, which I strongly recommend.
5. Amenities - this hotel has it all. From a swimming pool, to a SPA , to a hair salon for the ladies, to a gym, and if you want to get some work done and don’t want to stay in your room, they also have a really nice business center on the first floor. I also want to mention the different types of restaurants, bakery shop, bank, and a very relaxing outside lounge area that is so refreshing.

All in all, this hotel functions as a resort where you don’t have to go too far to get the things you need and makes it very convenient to stay there.

Things that can be improved

From my personal experience, the one major issue I have experienced throughout my stay was the reliability of the WiFi. I complained about 4 times and nothing was fixed until our last day and that is one area that needs major improvement since the network connection was horrible.
In addition, all the amenities need to be easily accessible to all. However, the swimming pool, hair salon, and SPA are located on top of a very steep set of stairs, which are not accessible by those who may have physical disabilities and would recommend at least bringing the SPA and hair salon to the main hotel building and making the pathway easily accessible to all.

Overall- this is one of the best experiences I’ve had in a hotel and will definitely stay here during my trip next year. Haile Grand has a customer for life. Well done!

A gem of a hotel in Addis Ababa! Attended a 3-day conference which was held at the hotel and stayed there as well. The standards are high! The rooms are comfortable with an assortment of pillows to suit your needs. Wifi is fast and available throughout the hotel. The choice of foods at the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet are generous and an impressive mix of european/western staples with Ethiopian traditional food. For breakfast, there is also a special sitting area to enjoy Ethiopian coffee in a traditional setting. There is also a traditional Ethiopian restaurant annexed to the hotel for those who want to savour the local flavours, shows are also held here. Highly recommend this hotel. Location wise, there isn't much in the immediate vicinity (there is a pharmacy though, but not easily visible from the hotel entrance), but there are shopping malls 15-20 minute walk away.

Hidden Gem with a Gorgeous Pool!

Haile Grand Addis Ababa exceeded our expectations! The pool area is stunning, offering a perfect retreat. Rooms are spacious and elegant, with attentive staff ensuring a memorable stay. Conveniently located, it's a top choice for a luxurious getaway in Addis Ababa. Can't wait to return!

I stayed a little over a week and it was unforgettable and remarkable!
Elegant majestic, clean and quiet hotel. From my initial enthusiastic welcome (Royal welcome) to the farewell and a ride to the airport was so amazing.

in Addis Ababa. Great facilties, and variety of bars and restaurants. Additionally the customer service is the best to be found. Staff are so helpful and welcoming. The gym is also good but could do with some more equipment. But the hotel and the grounds and the location next to Friendship park provides a location with lots of space and greenery in the centre of Addis Ababa
