Lodge Fasil

Fossil Lodge in Gondar provided us with a wonderful stay. Mr. Effrem and his staff warmly welcomed our family. The availability of internet, beautiful garden, and delicious food made our experience memorable. The lodge's convenient location near downtown and great restaurants was a plus. We extend our thanks to Mr. Effrem and his staff for their exceptional hospitality. Highly recommended for a delightful stay in Gondar.

I love this hotel. Very friendly welcome, fantastic asticot location. As a vegan they always make an effort for my food. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. I go every year and it never fails. The owner is amazingly helpful and nice

This family run hotel is remarkable in the way it has created a really peaceful space in the very heart of Gonder's historical centre. Exit the hubbub of a hot and dusty afternoon's wondering and enjoy a cold beer under the cool trees. The rooms are simple but well priced. The staff are very attentive. Breakfast was generous and tasty. We highly recommend.

A fabulous place to stay just off the historical Fasil Ghebbi. The room was comfortable, very clean with reliable hot showers. Located behind the restaurant and bar, the room offered peace and quiet with an attractive seating area in the well-kept garden. The staff were very friendly and helpful. This is the place to stay in Gondar.

Great hotel, clean and spacious rooms. Good choice if you need comfort. The manager was very gentle to us and called a minibus to pick us up early in the morning to head down to Bahir Dar. The man in the reception was extremely kind too. We highly recommend this hotel!

I loved their food.
I went on the fasting season where they serve vegetarian buffet and it was amazing. I loved the variety and the taste.
Service was okay.
Moderate price.

Lively bar and restaurant but quiet at the back, where the bedrooms are.

Quiet place, one of the only good wifi connections (during the time where data is switched off in the region). Food is okay, service is very slow even for a simple coffee, they often have power cuts and no English menu (please make an English menu!)

Nice lodge close to the royal encloser.
Everything was clean, food was nice.
Negative: except the reception guy, nobody could speak English. It was really hard even to order food. They were fully overchallenged with the simplest questions.

This is the reason for giving only 3 stars. In that price category I definitely expect the staff to speak at least some words English.

Result: They need to reduce the price, or train their staff. For the current price of 45 $ it’s definitely overpriced. There were other hotels in Gonder for only 15 - 25 $ with also suitable comfort.
