Ateljé Finne

Overall a lovely restaurant. Great for nut allergy as no dishes actively contain nuts. Food and service lovely. Busy until late so recommend booking.

Starter: Whitefish. Was really light and summery. Well prepared fish with only a subtle rhubarb taste (which I really liked as I’m not a massive rhubarb fan)

Main: Reindeer. Really love. Again light but really tasty. Loved the mayo with the garlic oil.

Dessert: White chocolate moose. Lovely. Again light and airy.

Cons
- Very noisy when the restaurant is full so quite hard to have dinner conversation
- No air con so very hot in the warm weather

Never disappointed and always amazed at the quality of food and service! The fermented potato with roe and reindeer tartar was the perfect starters for my partner and I. Followed by the poached fish and reindeer roast. The reindeer was perfectly cooked and the beets were great accompaniments. Though I love the unami from the dashi butter, i would say the fish is a tad too salty and overcooked. Nonetheless, finished strong with a very delicious licorice creme brulee that I wanted more of! The apple crumble was also nice dessert but definitelt the creme brulee was the star!

Beautiful gem of a restaurant in an artist’s studio. Delicately prepared and delicious Finnish dishes starting with fresh baked malt and sour dough bread. Lovely ambiance and wonderful service.

We grabbed a reservation for our first night in Helsinki & weren’t disappointed. We both did the 3 course meal and wine pairings and everything we had was outstanding. Great depth of flavor, clearly using fresh local ingredients, and the wine pairings were terrific in adding to the meal. The staff were friendly & answered all of our questions about various ingredients for our first time visiting Finland. Highly recommend Ateljé!

Excellent food and attentive service . We had reindeer tartar with pickled mushrooms and fermented garlic mayonnaise, reindeer roast and a creme brulee with liquorice together with matching wines .

Nov2022. I had eaten here 10years ago during a previous stop in Helsinki. My second experience was even better than my souvenirs. Amazing food and service. The menu is short, but that’s what you want. It features nice variations around Finnish gastronomy.
One thing blew my mind away. A fish dish (pike perch). It’s generally easy to impress with meat dishes as the power of flavors is so strong, and fish dishes can appear a bit bland. Well not at all in this restaurant - this fish fish was a concerto of suble flavors, purely succulent. Bravo!

The food was simply amazing. Special thanks for the pike-perch (kuha) dish. The wine pairing with the food was spot on as well

If I had improve something: I would have liked to hear more detailed introductions for the wines and why they were chosen to be paired with the dishes

Watermelon soup was incredible! We had a three course meal, and it was overall a great experience.

Aussie tourist visiting Helsinki for a few days. Amazing Finnish food on offer with very welcoming and helpful staff. Menu available in English. I recommend the 3 course option with matched wines. It was a great way place to have our last dinner in Finland.

Amazingly good food in an unpretentious and pleasant location. Simple but effective menu with a range of choices, including vegetarian and vegan options. If this was in London the prices would be 4 times as much and the queue would be down the road, it really is a proper hidden gem of a restaurant. If you are in Helsinki and want some great food then this is the place to go

Fantastic experience at Atelje Finne.

Do go with the menu, tartar is an excellent starter, followed by any steak they might have available. The steaks are the best you'll most likely eat, have been here many times and they have not failed. Creme brules are also a classic choicw for the dessert.

Amazing food and great service for our party of 10 tonight!

We had a nineteen hour layover in Helsinki and had time for one meal in town before we flew out. We dined at Atelje Finne after the manager at Finnjavel Salon recommended it. We were not disappointed.

The staff were kind and courteous, we had two adults and two children and were immediately made to feel welcome. The restaurant is located in a cozy, beautiful space, with artwork throughout. The food, drinks and service were all top notch. The tasting menu gave us a taste of Finnish foods and flavors.

If a manager at a Michelin starred restaurant is recommending you eat somewhere, do it! When we make it back to Helsinki we will definitely eat here again.

Try the reindeer tartar. All the food is amazing and the atmosphere is artsy and cozy.

Excellent dining experience - fancy, but not pretentious. The interior and atmosphere are classy and clean, so unpretentious as to be almost plain or stoic, and menu and service were all I could have expected.
I'm by no means a gastronomy expert, but the dishes were sophisticated, very rich in flavour and tickled all my senses in the right way.
A short menu of creative dishes (I was, for instance, recommended the liquorice crème brûlée, and against my expectations it was amazing). Good selection of wines - so far as I can tell from one visit - and knowledgeable and friendly yet professional staff.
If it's in your budget range (mains are €25-30, we enjoyed three courses and lavish drinks for about €85 per person), Ateljé Finne is an excellent place for an excellent dinner.

I absolutely fell in love with this restaurant - so much that I went back as soon as I could.
The space is beautiful, comfortably large yet with a touch of intimacy. The design and artworks are gorgeous, we are in the old studio of Gunnar Finne after all.
The dishes are delicious and creative - the vegetarian dishes were impressive and shined through with their flavour combinations and layers without the help of meat.
And a big thank you to the staff who were absolutely wonderful.

Fantastic place to have dinner. Friendly service coupled with seasonal menus where you’d want to choose everything available. Will visit again!
