The Chateau de Losse is an absolute delight and should not be missed. It is not a huge, imposing chateau, it does not overwhelm with its size or grandeur, but it is a real treasure. It sits beautifully among trees, overlooking a valley above the river. It is elegant and beautifully maintained. The house and gardens have much to discover and the woodland walk is shady and cool on a hot day. The chateau contents are tastefully presented and include some real gems of furniture, paintings, tapestry and other items. It presents as a rich family's home, not purely as a museum.

The gardens are a lovely mix of formal and informal and an excellent explanation of the chateau and gardens is provided through an audio guide.

The restaurant is worth a visit, we had gorgeous glace artisanale, specially made ice cream. Meals, drinks, deserts and other food is also available. The staff were excellent and very friendly, this stood out. We absolutely loved the Chateau de Losse.

Stumbled across this chateau in the Dordogne. It cost 10 euro each for entry which includes both gardens & chateau. Had a fantastic good few hours here. The gardens are superb & very well kept, the chateau very interesting.
We made a quick dash to the coffee shop on site as the heavens opened, & were made to feel very welcome in spite of having soaking wet clothes. We were only planning on having a coffee, but we were sold a piece of gluten free cake which was delicious.
Would definitely recommend.

What a lovely Chateau
Great to have the Audio Guide which was in English, it worked well, arrive at a point key in the number and enter, it then explains about what can be seen
A nice cafe in the gardens, we had a coffee there unfortunately not able to have lunch because it was too busy
Room to park camping cars in the car park, I asked but overnight stays not permitted
Well worth a visit

A small castle in terms of interiors but complete and honest and not overdone. Plus a nice garden. In a great setting along the Vézère. Pictures inside were not allowed.

Lovely little château. Beautiful gardens. Loved having an audio guide in English.
Recommend visit here instead of Le Thot

A very beautiful and important chateau on the banks of the River Vezere. It wasn’t particularly busy on our visit. All money from tickets apparently goes to the ongoing renovation of this wonderful property that was in ruins until the 1970s.
Give yourself a couple of hours to explore.
Even my teenage son who doesn’t like castles said this was his favourite one!!

This is a really beautiful place. The castle itself is elegant, but the combination of such attractive stone structures and the gardens within is really special. The audio guide was very good. We stopped into the little restaurant afterwards for some ice-cream and refreshments and found the location and service very pleasant. A great day out.

Fantastic château and gardens. We loved this visit. Highly recommend.
The icing on the cake was the amazing bistro in the gardens. The lady serving was so friendly. She made our meal even more enjoyable. The food was superb. Our special favourite was the soufflé - divine. 😋😋😋

Loved this château really interesting. The audio guide in English was excellent- just the right amount of detail. Pretty gardens, fantastic views over the river.
The garden bistro was absolutely out of this world! The service was exceptional - made to feel so welcome. I would give it more than 5 stars for food. Delicious fois gras- beautifully served and superb raspberry soufflé. Highly recommend a visit.

Not nearly as crowded with tourists as other Chateaus, yet outstanding its own right.. The view from the opposite side of the river is just amazing..

This castle offers something for everyone, between the castle's history, the garden's hidden gems and the setting. We were able to fully follow and enjoy the guided visit with the printed english guides. Take a second to walk around the dry moat and to discover the Vezere from the Castle. We higly recommend visiting.

Of all the many wonderful chateaus we have visited in France this has to be both the most impressive & welcoming of them all
It has a true 'lived in' homely feeling to it and is very impressive both inside & out with wonderfully laid out gardens & a brocant in one of the outer turrets!
You can walk around the now dry moat, get lost in the labyrinth, explore the acient but wonderfully restored, gardens as well as take a guided tour. A large bell rings a few minutes before each tour to remind you to hurry back!
We visited on a warn sunny day when visitors were out in their hordes and the Chateau was slightly over run with us all! The staff coped admirably and still managed to give enough guided tours in all required languages and keep smiling.
They clearly enjoyed being there a much as we did.
A wonderful gem of a find.
