I’m leaving a review to give this one receptionist a shoutout - unfortunately I never caught her name. At arrival, she was very friendly, helpful and informative. She went out of her way to create a guide for us on how to reach the waterfall (images and a breakdown of the directions). She didn’t really have to go above and beyond, but she did, and this is why I’m leaving a review to say that my partner and I really enjoyed our stay. The following day we ate a full Welsh breakfast which tasted amazing. Unfortunately because of the rain we didn’t fee motivated to explore the surrounding areas, but from what we could grasp, it was very lovely and scenic.

Here for 2 nights, Christmas voucher treat. Staff excellent. Food really good. Bedroom really nice apart from a "drainy" smell in the bathroom. Location superb. Thoroughly enjoyable break.

We had a night stay here from a voucher purchased for us as a gift. It was fantastic! The room was perfect the food in the evening was amazing as was the breakfast in the morning. The grounds are gorgeous and all the staff were wonderful too, it was just the best gift we have had. We liked it so much we went back for the carvery on Sunday which was stunning definitely would recommend and definitely will be coming back xxxx

Had a lunch here with relatives - the £10.95 lunchtime set menu was excellent value, with a decent set of options. Left feeling happy!

I stayed for two nights. We heard mixed reviews, so we didn't know what to expect. The ladies on reception were very welcoming and helpful. Our bedroom was large, as was the bathroom. Both were clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had the cooked breakfast each morning, mine was vegetarian, which was delicious. The ladies serving were helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We would certainly go back and highly recommend the hotel. It does need updating and the car park needs more gravel, but that adds to the charm of the place. Thank you for a lovely weekend.

Great Hotel, staff were great food was excellent and reasonably priced. Rooms were big but our mattress was too soft for us ( personal choice) would have been 5 stars if the mattress was firm. Breakfast was proper nice.

Christmas staff night out. Was trying to think of ways of getting out of the annual staff night out, thinking a Freddie tribute night and a buffet would be a bit naff, BUT is was great. Buffet was super with plenty of hot and cold food, music was excellent and staff could not do enough for you. Thank you for an excellent staff night out, will recommend to anybody. Did not stay over as left it to late to get a room, but friend did say room was good, but very cold. Please put a few more lights in the car park behind the hedges as fell down a pot hole, and I had not had a drink.

Wife had a mother's day afternoon tea and the experience was amazing. Would go there again for a meal. The driveway needs a little attention though. Hotel beautiful.

Visited the restaurant which was quiet. Received friendly and attentive service and my food was delightful at a reasonable price.
I've read comments that the outside needs tidying up, my visit was in the evening but I can understand that the outside layout and appearance could be improved. It didn't affect my enjoyment of the visit.

What a lovely place, I took a group of 20 seniors for afternoon tea. Absolutely wonderful staff, kind and caring. They didn't rush us and understood the complexities of bringing an group of older people for lunch Thank you for your patience and support.. oo and the afternoon tea was stunning. XX

A lovely stay, a large room, the food was beautiful and the staff were absolutely lovely. Yes,it could probably be updated a little bit in some areas, but it was clean, comfortable and welcoming. Would recommend.

Room was lovely and clean. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the food on the restaurant, no issues at all. If we visit the area again we'd certainly look at staying here again. If you are visiting the area, the Penderyn Distillery is worth a visit (recommend either the tour or master class).

I booked the hotel through groupon, the read the reviews. I didn't know what to expect!
Its a beautiful, old Welsh country house. Regarding the potholes- I drive a mini with low profile tyres.absolutely no problem with access.
The room was clean and the views were beautiful. We had a four poster bed and a fab deep old fashioned bath.
The staff couldn't have been better. They even accommodated my health and brought my food to me in my room.
I can't wait to go again. This is a fab place. Great food and excellent value for money.
Thank you for a lovely stay x

Highly recommended place. Fantastic location in Brecon Beacons near to the Penderyn Distillery.
It's a little bit the 80s style but not negatively.
Friendly staff and great but not expensive food at the restaurant. I will definitely come back there in the future

The Ty Newydd hotel is set in beautiful surroundings, the restaurant was lovely and clean.
We enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea prepared by the head chef Steve, the sandwiches and cakes were delicious, and the glass of Prosecco was very nice.
All staff were pleasant, especially the restaurant manager who checked on us many times.
Would recommend.

Nice to see they have revamped the place a bit, went for a Christmas party the food was brilliant loads to choose from, the price on drinks is a bit steep but I feel this has always been the case. My room was nice it wasn't dated although some of the other guests said theirs felt a bit behind with the times. It was also good to be able to pay to have a later check out.
But the staff were really friendly and accommodating will definitely visit again for some lunch
