A fabulous little museum to visit, especially if you love porcelain. We were warmly welcomed and given a guided tour by very friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. We had delicious light refreshments served on pretty china in a room previously used by William Billingsley to decorate porcelain. The Thomas Pardoe exhibition upstairs is a wonderful celebration of his work. A great visit, many thanks.

What a gem of a museum. We booked a tour and morning coffee with cakes. The welcome was so warm, the guides were very knowledgeable and the museum is beautifully curated. I cannot recommend this museum enough.

Small but perfect. A lovely afternoon's visit, with an excellent cup of tea! Combination of beautiful objects and interesting history of the factory as well as the influence of the local canal on industry more generally. We loved it.

What a gem! Full of history about the not so well known china works & pottery from inception to end. Our tour guide Lisa was brilliant and well informed and made the visit.
We saw the whole of the works from the history to modern use of the site.
As a treat we had the Welsh Cream Tea afterwards and it was delicious. Scones with jam & cream, Bara Brith & Welsh Cakes.
Recommend a visit.

Nantgarw China Works is conveniently located on the 120 Caerphilly Pontypridd bus route with just a short walk up the hill. We thoroughly enjoyed our informative guided tour from Mike who is just one of the knowledgeable and  pleasant volunteers at this charming little china works. The tour was free of charge and we spent some loose change on souvenirs and a spot of tea and cake in the quaint little tea room.
We would highly recommend if you are looking for an hour out of the house to indulge in some Welsh history.

Excellent little museum, run by fantastic volunteers, offering very enthusiastic talks and information about the history of the building and whole site. Displays are interesting and you can enjoy a nice cup of tea and cake in the old cottage at very reasonable prices.

Excellent little museum sitting conveniently near the Taff Trail. The volunteer guides June and Jeff were so welcoming, friendly and passionate about the museum, really selling all the stories connected to the place.
It has very good ceramic workshop, so attending any workshops would be an experience.
Examples of Nantgarw Porcelain and porcelain from Swansea, as well as earthenware and salt glazed pottery produced at the place after production of the Nantgarw porcelain failed.

Fantastic tour by two of the volunteers followed by a chat with the resident ceramicist made this a great and unexpected visit today. There’s a fascinating history here brought to life by the tour guides. Really worth a visit.

We had the most wonderful trip to the Nantgarw Chinaworks last week. We only had one day we could make the tour and this happened to be a very busy day at the Chinaworks but hearing our predicament they very, very kindly agreed to fit us in. We arrived and were made to feel so welcome as soon as we stepped through the door and began our visit with a cream tea. The room was set out beautifully and the china used was, as you’d imagine, absolutely gorgeous. Every part of the cream tea was delicious and very good value, with very generous portions, none of the three of us had room for our evening meal afterwards ! June took our tour for us and she was wonderful, extremely knowledgeable and like all the other people we met there, obviously passionate about the chinaworks. We learnt so much and it was all very, very interesting. It’s a proper gem of a place and would make a lovely outing for anyone of any age and the tour itself is exceptional value, it would make a complete bargain outing for a family, £2.50 per adult, free for the under 16s ! The Chinaworks shouldn't be thought of just for visitors to the area, it has so much interest for everyone including Caerphilly and area residents, it’s something we can be very proud of. Thanks so much to you all for our very lovely afternoon with you.

Recently visited this legendary place. Amazed by the story it carries for exactly 200 years now. Each hand painted piece of artistical work, still glimmering with proud. Shockingly noticed 90% of goods damaged during baking in those days due to uneven temperature. Thanks to modern technology. I wish this art to be restored and taught to next generation. This chCna items to be mass produced at affordable price.

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn some Welsh history you've probably never heard of before. We expected to have a quick walk around but we ended up spending two hours soaking it all in with our wonderful guide, Mike, and we stayed for some coffee and cakes after. They run traditional craft courses too so we'll be back to learn pottery and basket-making.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Museum interesting and tea rooms lovely. I took my elderly Aunt and the staff didn't hurry her and made sure she was safe as we walked around the site. A lovely afternoon and I will look out to for events at the museum in the future.

Lovely little museum and pottery which runs a variety of courses on the premises as well as tours and cream teas. Not a huge place but well worth a visit especially for fans of Nantgarw porcelain. They have recreated the original formula and manufacture a modern version... all very interesting.

This is a fantastic little museum to learn about the amazing Nantgarw China and also about the local area. Well recommended and great for some morning tea too. Stop in for a cuppa and a chat atleast.

Kids might be a little bored but the adults will have a great time learning a little heritage of the area.

Small but lovely place at Nantgarw. There is brilliant old uncle explained something about China Work Museum and Art Gallery. He put the DVD on about most popular and quality porcelain makers video. Porcelain maker man died with secret recipes about how to make thin porcelain. Upstairs there was another man who explained us how they tried and found out best match good quality porcelain recipe. Spectacular place to go. Just spend half hour to keep this museum open.
