Recently drove passed the pub, looks permanently closed. Really hope that its not the end of what used to be a very traditional pub. This place has so much potential sad to see it closed.

Wonderfully unspoilt local. The community centres around landlord Ken, who is the font of all knowledge about the local area. I hear he even drives the school bus! The pub hosts real people wanting a taste of real life- they even sell hens eggs from the top of a piano! A joy to behold...

This pub is no longer open but is the start of an amazing walk across Dragon's Back

Great sign on old disused pub. Don't go there for dinner you won't get any. You will find lovely walks and views from the pub garden.

I'm awarding it five stars because of how it made me feel. It was everything I had hoped for in a English country pub out in the boondocks. Genuine and personal. I slipped into an oddly pleasant state of melancholy as I pondered over all the pints had under those beams, all the cigarettes smoked, the laughs had before driving home three sheets to the wind.

A cold and refreshing pint of lager after a nice hike that will stay with me for a long time.

I visited the Quiet Woman every weekend for several years back in the late 60's when I was with the Orpheus Caving Club. We had a cottage in Crowdecote and this was our local. Popped back now and then over the years and it is still the same. Great traditional village pub, no frills just good ale and a superb atmosphere. For me its one of the best places in the Peak to quench your thirst after a days walking.

pleasant landlord, charming surroundings. We stopped for a refreshing drink while walking locally, and were made to feel very welcome. Landlord upset because Good Beer Guide has misquoted opening times which are:
Mon - Fri 1200-1500, 1900 - 2300
Sat. 1200 - 1600, 1900 - 2300
Sun 1200 - 1700, 1900 - 2300

Great little pub the landlord Ken is really welcoming . Lovely warm and coasy bar with open fire .beers good not a massive range but it's all good . Ken sells packs of local beer and eggs from his chicken s that wonder around outside . He's got a dart bord and pool room it's a really throw back to simpler times . Don't ask for pissecco ,hippster beers or food past a pork pie .
Worth a visit

This is a very special pub, and freehouse, where the landlord, I think he owns The Quiet Woman (pub, that is) will chat to you quietly about days gone by. One feels very relaxed and welcome there.
The same appears to go for his customers, too. We always drop in for a chat with Ken whenever we're in that part of Derbys.

Kind regards,
Maurice and Kathryn.

An absolute delight after a walk on a cold, wet winter's day. Really nice pub, good beer, warm fire - all rather like stepping outside the cares of the world for a few hours.

A brilliant example of a proper English village pub. Decent beer and pork pie cuisine. Character like this can't be found in a chain pub. Love it.

Like stepping back in time long before the first tweet was ever twittered, the spacehopper was unbounced and angel delight was the sophisticated dessert of choice. England. What remains.

WHAT A PUB , PRICELESS !

EXCELLENT BEERS AND BAR SNACKS ONLY - THE WAY PUBS USED TO BE

NO JUKE BOX OR PIPED MUSIC . NO ONE-ARMED BANDITS , NO SCREAMING KIDS IN THE BAR - ROOM FOR THEM IN POOL ROOM .
AND ONE OF ITS MANY ATTRIBUTES NO MEALS NO COOKING AND NO RUDDY WAITERS UP AND DOWN WITH TRAY FULLS OF FOOD WHILE YOU ARE WAITING TO BE SERVED A PINT !

A PUB AS IT SHOULD BE AND LONG MAY IT CONTINUE

Apparently permanently closed, following (sadly) the death of the long-standing landlord.
