The Beckenham Bookshop

I made my first visit to this charming bookshop a few days ago and I really enjoyed it. They have a great selection of books and the staff were very friendly. I've finished my book so I'll be going back for another one!

Great customer service and friendly atmosphere in store. I frequently email them to ask them to order a book in and it’s often in within 48hours.

Can't recommend this bookshop enough! Love the reviews from people working at the shop, they've led me to some interesting books! And lovely friendly staff who are happy to help you. Ordering in books is lightning fast too, you can order it one day and pick up the next! 📚 They have nice cards and book related gifts, puzzles, bookmarks and whatnot as well.

As it’s “Independent Book Shop Week” I had decided to save up the gold medallions and buy in person, as opposed to ordering online. (Now as a reclusive Witch, in a still plagued land this is a pretty big thing for me!)

I love Beckenham Bookshops window displays, always on point and always inclusive & diverse.

On walking in, I was greeted with a warm welcome and then given the time and space to browse freely. (As someone with social anxiety this was wonderful!)

My niche being spooky, kooky, magical, fantastical, weird & wonderful children's books I was impressed with the variety on offer!
Board books, picture books, early readers through to YA with newly published items and some slightly older offerings that are ripe for discovery.

There is a great selection of funky gifts/ cards and additional items also.
Purchasing was a lovely experience; was offered a loyalty card and lots of generally nice, human interaction.

This is the reason I shop small, shop local wherever possible.

What a fantastic bookshop! If you want friendly, helpful service and staff who will go the extra mile to try and help, this is the place for you! Great selection of books, and if they don't have the title you're after, they'll make sure they get it in for you!

Why have I not been here before?! Fab bookshop, great children's selection with suggested reading ages clearly laid out (very helpful). Love the section full of books staff have read with their hand written reviews wrapped round the covers. Staff friendly, helpful and obviously avid readers from chatting with them. Definitely coming back! Lovely atmosphere too.

Went to this delightful local bookshop as part of the Beckenham Art Trail. As well as looking at the art on show I had a good mooch around the shop so will certainly be going back especially as they do a quick ordering service.

Friendly, efficient and if they don't have it, can be delivered within 24 hours at no extra cost.

Great independent local bookshop. Broad range of authors, genres etc. Beautiful range of cards, calendars etc. Constricted by size but if they do not have it, they can order it. Staff friendly and knowledgeable.

Great service and a willingness to source whatever obscure title I need. Nothing is too much trouble and they've been particularly helpful keeping me sane during lockdown, even holding on to my orders for as long as it's sometimes taken me to drop by.

I love this shop. If the book you want is not in stock, they can get it for you quickly. When we are not in lockdown, remember that? you will sometimes find a staff review tucked into a book. They also run a book club. Support your local bookshop!

The perfect local bookshop- an asset to Beckenham. They always have an interesting selection of fiction and non-fiction for both adults and children. I love having a browse and finding something new and exciting. Also, their rapid order service is more convenient than ordering online.

I know Amazon and on line buying is ok if you are in a hurry, but for personal service, this small independant bookshop, is hard to beat. Lost for something to read, they will always be able to reccommend something. Their 24/48 ordering service is wonderful, and very rarely are you left holding empty air! Good and busy I thoroughly reccommend this shop to people of all ages, there is even a small children's area at the back of the shop, to encourage both purchase and literacy.

Sorry but totally disagree with the negative comments. I have used the Beckenham Book Shop on many occasions and always found the staff to be extremely polite and helpful. Will always go the extra mile for their customers. Think we are very lucky to have such a business on our high street.

Great selection & friendly staff

Probably the best indie bookshop in Bromley borough! Great for kids books and their selection of fiction is off the charts. All the staff know their onions and have always helped in that quest to fill the gaps in my reading needs. Thank you Beckenham Bookshop!

This is a tiny little independent bookshop. It's close to the Marks and Spencer so may not be obvious to all Beckenham visitors but they've a great range of books, can order what you need (my order came very quickly) - and like all independents these days deserve and need our support.

A good range of books here, and the selection is not run of the mill. I have picked up books I haven't seen anywhere else, so a hidden gem with friendly staff
