A lovely pub to stop after a walk in the peaks.
The food was lovely and the staff were nice. We spent just over 60 quid for 2 mains, deserts, coffee and beers.
We had the sausage and mash which was lovely and the veggie Sunday roast. We would definitely recommend both again.
For dessert the poached pear was our favourite and the lemon tart came in a close second.
The only minor comment is the beer came with a huge head but no big deal!
I would definitely come back again.
It's also dog friendly.

Amazing pub. Even in the depths of darkest winter, booking on a Saturday night is essential, so make sure not to turn up here on the fly.

Incredible value for money, generous portions and great quality produce. Cosy settings, with really good service. Couldn't recommend it enough.

Fabulous meal here back in August. I ordered the BBQ beef short ribs - a HUGE portion, the beef ribs were delicious, loved the BBQ sauce and jalapenos loaded on the fries. The bacon was a bit much 🤣 but wow, decadent. Everyone else loved their meals too. Interesting decor, cozy vibe.

One of the best restaurants in the Peak District - amazing, vibrant menu, vibes, fire place, top service. One of the best meals I’ve had all year!

Stunning little pub with great food, kind staff and a venue that is welcoming. We had two different fish dishes both of which were tasty and a good portion size. There was also a varied selection of beers available and I particularly enjoyed the hazy IPA. We sat in the ample sized outdoor area which was also dog friendly. I'd highly recommend this pub for drinks or a pub lunch if you're in the area.
With thanks to Vicky for being such a lovely host!

Great pub with great food and friendly staff. We got lucky they had a small table by the bar (would recommend to book). They had the fire on which created a great atmosphere for a chilly evening! We had the pork sausages and the venison and chorizo hamburger, plus the cheese board which were delicious. The only improvement I can suggest is to add oat cookies/oatcakes for the cheese board

Had a lovely time at The Packhorse Inn. Food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was brilliant. We sat outside in the outbuilding, which was lovely and warm from the open fire. It had a lot quirkiness too it with the surroundings.
We wanted to thank Vicky most of all who served us with all our meals and drinks & had the whole menu at the tip of her tongue. She was so friendly, and couldn’t do more for us, She made us feel very at home.

Great country pub. Excellent food, friendly service and reasonably priced. Lots of character too. I had the beef short rib and loaded fries and the sticky toffee pudding and both were delicious.

Had the most amazing meal at The Packhorse Inn after a day hiking (18.02.2023). We didn't book but luckily there were some tables in the outdoor bit (which is fully undercover and heated so it felt like we were inside). Lovely staff and I thoroughly enjoyed my venison shank with garlic mash. The rest of the party were equally as happy with their food choices. Would definitely come back, but definitely book ahead on weekends.

I really can’t recommend The Packhorse too highly - 2 nights, 7 courses all exemplary. Service was congenial, quick and in such a busy venue - so relaxed and pleased to go the extra mile. I want to come back soon but don’t hesitate - eating here is an absolute delight.

A fantastic find in the Peak District. We went for a drink at lunchtime in the middle of our walk - nice beer. And then we went back for dinner - great, hearty food, warm service and atmospheric earring area. Could maybe have one more veggie main option but very minor gripe. Dog friendly, perfect in every way.

This place is a friendly home to everyone man and beast, regular or chance, year round. Events from time to time suited to the environment. Garden facilities even inviting in the winter.
And the beer and wine, are very good. Other types are available.
A destination not to be missed.
This time we had a meal with live first class Christmas vocal entertainment included.

I didn't dine this visit, but the place was full and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food.
A fantastic pub with open fires and a great welcome. Good range of Thornbridge ales available and usually some other guests.
A great and positive team run this place. It was fabulous to visit again.

Amazing food. Lovely pub. Perfectly located for some good long walks. I had the beef short rib and my partner had the risotto. Both were an absolute delight. Will eat here again for sure

The food was delicious, I wish we had longer in the Peak District to come back and order more items on the menu. We had to wait half an hour for our table, but we were able to wait in the covered beer garden with a couple of drinks. Once our table was ready the service was seamless and we had a lovely meal.

Decided to book here for a Sunday lunch based on others reviews and very glad we did! Overall, an excellent meal which we all thoroughly enjoyed!

Highlights were the large servings of tender beef, amazing Yorkshire puds (even for a true Yorkshire lass in our party) and a nice seasonal menu. Very minor points, and I'm being picky here, we had to ask where our drinks order was as seems it got left at the bar, and the delicious honey roasted parsnip soup would have nice with a large chunk of quality bread rather than Tesco-esque baguette. Like I say, these were very minor points which really didn't detract our enjoyment!

It's a lovely pub, open fires, and a great range of beers from Thornbridge. Definitely consider booking if you want to visit on the weekend, we saw quite a few people try and get a table only to be told they only had space outside. One of the best Sunday roasts we've had out in a while so would definitely return and recommend to others! Great job all round!!

Great little gastro-inn. You need to book to experience this busy, quirky, village Inn with seasonal menu changing monthly. Great food and service.
