Fascinating ... our second visit. We arrived shortly after opening time and had the whole place to ourselves most of the time. Plenty to see. The audio tour was informative and entertaining. Well worth a visit. £9.95 each is pretty reasonable as it gives entry for a full 12 months. Parking is available a few yards from the entrance.

A truly original immersive experience. The fabulous audio guide takes you through each room at your own pace bringing everything to life with character narrations depicting how life was in the mid 1800s. Complete with the smell of oil lamps burning and the flicker of gas lighting you get the sense this living museum really is full of everything that was in situ 150 years ago. An underlying storyline of a local felon from back-in-the-day helps round off your experience of the reason this building exists. The team keeping all of this going were great. We rounded off our visit in the tea room which offers a terrific selection of leaf teas, ground coffees and delicious cake including bara brith.

Probably the best museum I've visited. Excellent free audio guide. They've tried to retain as much of the original 1860s furnishings even down to gas lighting. Must see!

Really interesting place, set up as it was in Victorian times as a Judge's house and courtroom and cells. They provide audio guides for going around. Plus a lovely tea room. Rest of Presteigne was disappointing as most shops and cafes shut, but this was a gem.

We visited this very interesting museum and we were delighted that we could be hands on with all the exhibits. Had coffee and cake when we arrived and have to say all the volunteers were very informative and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend a visit to this museum. Just a hint to visitors the town pretty much shuts down after two so bear this in mind if you want a meal or to visit the shops. Well worth a visit.

Very interesting and informative. Was given an audio guide with poeple speaking as though they were a servant etc. Original items displayed throughout the building, since it had all been stored in the attic after the building was no longer used. Actual oil lamps and gas lighting were lit. You could smell the oil burning You really got an idea of how it all must have been. Excellent that it was free entry too. There was also information about some of the cases that came before the court and what travel was like before the advent of the railways (this, given in the audio guide) . One of the best places I've visited.
