Ye Olde Vigour Inn

If you are ever in the town of Cemaes bay in North Wales, this should be a place you need to visit, a very Welsh welcome, a friendly landlady and a scrupulously clean modern pub, if it was possible to give a 6 star rating this place would certainly merit it.

This pub serves the best Guinness on the island. This is tested by myself and I should know being Irish. The standard of it is high. Other places serving it should ask them how they do it. Well done.

Have to say, we were very disappointed.
Reading previous reviews, we were hoping for the rude and surly landlady. We got the opposite, pleasant, friendly and polite bar staff, and one of the best pints of Guinness we've ever had too.
A nice, old fashioned village pub, the way it should be!
Perhaps we got it on an off day! ;-)

I sat and chatted with the lady for awhile. Once she's comfortable with you she really is a nice person. Get past that hard exterior of her and there's a sweet lady under there :)
I'll be heading to back to the UK this May and I'll be sire to stop in to Ye Olde Vigor Inn once again!

Hi Called in at this pub Wed 15 th September. Remember date so well because its a long time since I have had such a great time in a pub! Laughed from going in to coming out, made to feel genuinely welcome, by the two local gentlemen in the little snug, the lovely man behind the bar who has guinea pigs and the land lady who was lovely and had a lovely chat with her. What is wrong with people,this is a proper pub, with character and history,not a bland hipster bar run by bland hipsters. Unfortunately were unable to go next day,but is first on my list on my next visit. Pesonality character individuality FANTASTIC,still laughing now. Ye Olde Vigour Inn you did me the power of good!!!

What an experience! Me and 3 girlfriends arrived for a lunch time drink, we didn't want to leave this place, we had such fun! this pub is quirky and full of character, much like the land lady !!

Was staying at Johnson’s caravans nearby but they only had cans on offer, went here for a proper pint didn’t disappoint.
P.S great caravans and great uniforms.

I agree the barmaid has a serious problem. You would think this area would need the tourist money. Yes underhand comments to the other customers who were not the least bit interested in her ridiculous behaviour. Can't complain about any other place but avoid this place and this stupid women like the plague.

Not sure why all the bad reviews for this pub it's a brilliant place to have a beer and we found Cerys a great host , if you like your protentious wine bars then I'm sure it's not for you but other wise we thoroughly enjoyed it .

A characterful old pub that gives me a warm welcome. Whilst it may not be to all tastes there is nothing wrong with it.
