What pleasant people and such a lovely, warm and cozy hotel! Every single person we interacted with was kind and helpful and they made a huge fuss of our dog. The food was simple but delicious, and our bed was super comfortable. So nice to have one's expectations exceeded. Very happy.

Wow - the Swan at Hay far exceeded all expectations. The staff are absolutely amazing - customer service was outstanding. Extremely dog friendly - we were all made to feel so at home and really welcome. The room was super comfortable and had everything we needed. The evening meals were delicious as were the breakfasts - the Chef was really accommodating. The location is absolutely perfect - we had an amazing weekend and cannot thank the team at the Swan at Hay enough. We will definitely be returning.

Spent a nice couple of days at The Swan. The rooms were lovely and well equipped and of a high standard. We had breakfast one morning and it was lovely (though I think the cooked breakfast could have been a little bigger, cutting black pudding in half does seem a little bit mean). We had an evening meal and the duck was really tasty with a very nice sauce and red cabbage. My father said the fish and chips were the best he has had in a long time. Cheese board for afters was good also. We had a few drinks in the bar afterwards and this was a nice place to be, special shout out to Rhodri who manned the bar as he was very friendly and accommodating.

Nice hotel in beautiful Hay on Wye. Really pleasant room with very comfortable bed. My wife has a very bad back (as do I, to a certain extent) and we both slept like babies! BUT, best of all were the staff. Incredibly helpful and lovely, welcoming, chatty and engaging. Nothing was too much trouble AND they love dogs, one of the reasons we chose this hotel. We'll be back! Thank you for your hospitality.

Positively wonderful, literally the best holiday I've had in years. The staff are beyond friendly and helpful, prime location if you're a book-lover, and the room was coma-inducingly comfortable. Will definitely be back.

My lovely wife and I came here for a midweek date night from Leominster - wow!
Our expectations were smashed! The service was excellent, atmospheric chilled Christmas music. The Al a carte menu was excellent, the chilli prawn starter and the chutney used on the burgers/cheese board is absolutely epic!
We’ll be back, can thoroughly recommend if you in need of a lovely evening meal!

Lovely hotel in Hay-on-Wye with lots of history. Ideal for couples holidays, a quick drink in the Garden or lunch/dinner. Highly recommended for couples coming to visit Hay or see the Festival.

This is a spralling traditional country pub and hotel. Set out in several cosy well furnished traditional style rooms. We sat in the beautiful garden which had mature rise bushes and other shrubs in bloom. We had a lite lunch sitting in the sunshine. They also have a full menu. We'll worth a visit if you are in Hay.

Excellent bolt hole for a short break. Blazing log fires, great food and friendly service. At £95 per night (out of season) for a warm, comfy and modern double bedroom, this fabulous Georgian hotel with expansive lawned garden represents good value for money, but expect significantly higher prices during the Hay Book Festival.

We were in room no.6 and found this to be a lovely, well presented room. Large window was open when we arrived, made the room smell fresh and even though it faced the main street it was extremely quiet all night. Staff that served us were both friendly yet professional and never stopped from afternoon though to the evening. Evening meal was delicious and of ample quantity. Cold breakfast was limited but the hot breakfast was perfectly cooked. Location is excellent with instant access to local walks. Will be returning to same hotel when next in the area.

A lovely hotel, traditional but also up to date. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. The Swan is one of those places that leave you confident that you'll be looked after. This is reassuring to know for future visits.

Booked through Great Little Breaks. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Bar prices similar to pubs. Food good and plenty of it. Superb garden to finish the day with a drink. Will return I'm sure.
