My son has been regularly visiting the practice as an NHS patient, and when he turned 18 he was asked to move over as a private patient, which we did since we didn't want to swop practice. Since he has become private, he was given a treatment plan which included an examination plus xrays and then it indicated a seperate session for scale and polish.

So his first visit we paid for him being examined with xrays (surprise this was never done when he was seen as an NHS patient), and then a follow up treatment for scale and polish (one assumed it would be with a dental hygienist since the charge was £78, but if you don't know their terms of 'per unit'' then this could be up for interpretation and one could then interpret this as still being done by a Dental Hygenist considering the price is more than an actual dental check-up!) but it turns out the dentist performed the scale and polish for a mere 6 mins at this price!!!

When I called the practice to query this, the Practice Manager indicated that this was all on the treatment plan and if I was not happy with the price or treatment details I could have queried it or didnt have to come to this practice as that was my choice. Now having gone for scale and polishes at both dentist and dental hygienist for many years, I find it shocking that the dentist could not have done this 'quick scale' during one of the visits and not charge for a seperate session that ended up being 6 mins for an absurd price. Needless to say, we agreed to disagree and I personally won't recommend this practice to anyone.
