Stopped off after a walk around Lathkill Dale. Serves a well priced menu, clean pub and excellent service and very welcoming.

Will definitely eat here again and will probably stay over if the rooms are anything like the pub and service.

Just what you want from a pub.

Pleasant reception, good variety of lunch time foods available. Had the ham & cheese toastie ☺, beautiful ham and excellent choice with good value for money. Nice selection of ales, clean premises and furniture. Thank you 😊.

Lovely country pub. We received a warm welcome and were shown to our table. Good choice of starters, mains and desserts on the menu. The food arrived quickly and was delicious and home cooked. Very reasonably priced too. Lovely views over the surrounding countryside. We will be going back.

One of the very few traditional pubs serving traditional good quality pub food at frankly astonishingly reasonable prices. Very pleasant atmosphere and very friendly staff.
The size of the portions were clearly dispensed with humans rather than cats in mind as well. Other pubs take note.

Dropped in for a late lunch on 2nd January and received a warm welcome. Delicious, reasonably-priced food, freshly made on the premises (chicken in leek sauce with excellent, traditional chips and salad). 😋

Good catch on way back from Buxton to Ashbourne with our Pet Pooch. Sunday lunch served after 3pm a rare find. Really nice & a good pint of Pedigree 👍😋

We’re in a motorhome nearby and came in for a drink on a walk, then went back for a meal the following night. It’s a small cosy bar with a similar small room behind for a few tables. Perfect for us as we prefer small intimate typical pubs. I had a fab home made mushroom risotto and my partner had slow cooked beef, his chips were big chunky ones, lovely. Excellent service, good beer and wine. Thank you

Called in for lunch unexpectedly today and the food was delicious. I had the chicken and leeks in a stilton sauce and partner had the slow cooked beef in a peppercorn sauce .We also had dessert which for us is unusual but were tempted by the choice ,chocolate fudge cake with cream and fruit crumble with custard we decided on out of the many options on the menu and both were very tasty ,will definitely go again

Called in for lunch today (25th July2023) where they welcomed both us and our 3 dogs. Food was amazing and very cheap. Homemade lasagne, soup and rhubarb crumble. Well worth a visit. We will definitely be back.

I’ve driven past the Jug and Glass hundreds of times but finally had a meal here today (22/1/23). We received a lovely warm welcome, the waitress was so nice and friendly and the food really good. Proper pub food, I had the steak pie which was possibly the best I’ve even eaten. Very reasonable pricing and a nice classic style pub atmosphere. We did book a table which I would recommend.
My wife cannot eat food with milk, it was a massive bonus for us that they immediately helped us select a meal slightly modified to suit her.
Thank you so much to all the team, looking forward to another visit.
