What can I say? The worst possible experience. Her name is Rachel. She doesn't care one iota for what you're going through. She is Ms. JobsWorth. And - they may actually be running a racquet, so be careful. We had a fine experience with her going through the forms, but when we got to the question about wjhat date my mother died I explained to her that although she died late at night on March 29th, the doctor who verified death the next day wrote March 30th. So what date should be use, we asked her. Do we have to go with March 30th so all dates are the same? It doesn't matter she said (there were three of us there - my sister, me and my father - 3 witnesses). So it won't matter if we go with actual date of death and not what the doctor wrote, we asked her. Nope - whatever date you'd like. So we decided to put actual death on there - the 29th.
After this we experienced the worst stress of all - the next day the funeral parlor called and said there was a problem. The death certificate says the 29th but the date they had was the doctor's - the 30th, the official date. They might have to cancel the funeral till we get this cleared up. Several of us had traveled from the states and couldn't leave and come back. I won't go into the stress we went through over the next couple of days as 'Rachel' refused to change the date or accept responsibility - actually lying and saying that she had never told us the date discrepancy would matter. The doctor explained it was actually illegal to change his. When we spoke to her she said that this happens all the time (of course it does!) and she'd never heard of a funeral being postponed. SO...... it happens ALL the time and she didn't advise us to use the same date. She KNEW it would be an issue and yet she let us put the 29th. She really didn't give a damn about us. Calls with her showed her complete and entire lack of compassion or empathy for what it's like to lose a mother, and a wife of 56 years. She lied consistently every time we spoke with her.
When her boss agreed to issue a new death certificate, which of course we had to go there in person for, again, he was nice, but of course he still charged us 75 pounds to make the change. Like I said - they're running a racquet. Be aware. Not nice people and they really don't care about you.
