Lovely place to visit, both lakes had plenty of wild fowl, lots of swans. Had a brew and pastry. Sat watching the world go by a lovely place to relax. They do do water sports here and your able to walk round both lakes.

Fabulous large spacious car park free for the first 90 minutes. Huge reservoir with pedestrian path all the way around the lake. Modern casual dining restaurant with plenty of seating inside and on the veranda. Good selection of food including vegetarian options.

90mins free parking then charge after that. Accessible spaces and charging stations in car park. All flat and accessible and you could spend the day there making it around the reservoir and stopping in the cafe for tea cakes food. Accessible water-sports too. I’m a wheelchair user. Great place.

Lovely way to spend a leisurely couple of hours. Lovely breakfast - vegan and lovely staff. You can't take a dog all the way around the reservoirs. Toilets were spotless. There are attentive marshalls asking you to keep off the grass. Some lovely views.

Lisvane & Llanishen Reservoirs are a beautiful escape close to Cardiff. The scenery is stunning, with peaceful waters and lush greenery perfect for walks and picnics. The well-maintained paths cater to all fitness levels, making it a great spot for everyone.

Birdwatching is fantastic, with plenty of wildlife to see. Informative signs along the trails add to the experience. Facilities are top-notch, including ample parking, clean restrooms, and a cozy café for refreshments.

Highly recommended

Visited the cafe today for Sunday lunch. We had George the Cockapoo with us, so we sat outside on the terrace. 3 x Roast beef dinners were delicious. Freshly cooked roast potatoes (def not frozen), giant Yorkshire pudding and a fantastic portion of beef which was cooked to perfection. We arrived at 12pm and it was busy, but the staff were helpful and friendly. The table next to us had ordered the roast pork, will definitely return to try this next time.

Lovely walk around fairly newly opened reservoir by Welsh Water, £10 online booking for swimming and paddle boarding. Also open water swimming training. Good cafe area, didn't use but friends and family told me the Sunday lunch is good. 90 minutes free parking, 2.5 miles walk around while complex!

sailing taster session day finally arrived after many times having to put it off. Wonderful! Thank you Steve. Just made it up to the café 8n time for breakfast - probability the Welsh was a great choice for healthy food (granola tempting but likely too much sugar). I am just so grateful to https://www.llanishenrag.com for securing the whole site for us all.

Great experience! Can rent all the equipment you need individually (buoyancy aid, wetsuits, kayak, sups etc.) really great facilities showers and pontoon to launch from as well as mini pontoons on the lake if you need a break. Staff were also super helpful and friendly! Would 190% recommend.

This is a pleasant place for a walk around the reservoir. There is a café overlooking the water and it serves a range of snacks and drinks. There is car parking.

First time of visiting today and what a lovely place! It took us 20 mins at a stroll to walk around the smaller reservoir; it is all flat with a good path.
Visited the cafe. Plenty of choice on the menu and all the food looked delicious. Plenty of seating inside or outside on the balcony. As we only wanted tea and coffee we opted for the Grab & Go and sat on the picnic benches, which were sheltered from the wind.
Parking is free for the first 90 mins. 91 mins to 4 hours £3 and £6 all day.
There’s so much more to explore that we’ll definitely be back soon when it’s not so windy!

How grateful we are that this once abandoned area has been enhanced to be such a pleasant outdoor recreation area. It was good to be able to charge the car whilst we walked and enjoy a coffee at the cafe.

Nice place for a waterside walk with visitor centre to stop for refreshments & toilets.
Some watersports take place here but need to be pre booked.
Paths are a little muddy so wear appropriate footwear in wet weather!
There is a carpark but we didn't use it so unsure of whether it's free or not.
Can be assessed via a path off Rhyd-y-Penau Road so we parked here.

Fantastic place with recently updated facilities. The two reservoirs are brilliant. One is updated with a number of water activities like boating and swimming. The smaller reservoir has a ton of wild life perfect for bird watching. They have a grab and go for food with some limited options then a full on cafeteria style eatery on the second level. The food was great. I got a grill chicken and bacon salad that was really nice.

If your looking for a good place for a stroll or a place to eat that is not like a traditional restaurant, give this place a go.

Had a fantastic visit to this gem in Cardiff, Welsh Water has done a great job transforming this site. Facilities were great and had a lovely walk around the lake. Canteen was great for a coffee and cake. Hot food is also available and the views from the building were super.
Highly recommended visiting with your family, parking is good and staff is very friendly. All services is very accessible, although it would be great if there was more seating placed around the lake for people who need to take regular breaks.

Lovely place for a walk, can imagine it'll be busy in the summer! A good amount of info available as you walk around, a lovely visitor centre and cafe, paid £10 for two big slices of cake and a hot chocolate😊

These reservoirs have recently opened to the public and are a wonderful addition to the area.

The paths around the reservoirs are great, although I do not think they are durable and will require continuous maintenance.

The cafe was good but extremely busy when we visited on a Sunday, with up to an hour wait for a table.

Plenty of seating is available around the reservoirs.

Dogs and bicycles are not allowed. Unfortunately, some entitled people think these rules do not apply to then.

Given that we live locally, we will be using these facilities on a very regular basis.
