KEYSTORE - HAYMARKET

Been here maybe a dozen times in past year, always good range of the basics and low priced, staff are nice and helpful. Feel I should add re: negative review by "Kevin lee" that I was actually in the store on that occasion, I recall it because I was in a rush to get papers at lunch and he held the queue for 10 mins to complain about literal 3 pence difference on a cake, was rude and condescending, shouted about trading standards and ordering staff member to "do your told" who was very polite apologetic, more patient than I would have been - my mother used to run a store and would never take that tone from a customer. Pity when some egos treat smaller retail how they like but can always behave themselves in large ones. anyway, nice store, will visit again (but please stock playing cards, thank you!!)

UNETHICAL/ ILLEGAL TRADING STANDARDS TOWARDS CONSUMER PRICES

“Under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, it is illegal to charge a higher price when a lower price is clearly displayed.”

On more than occasion now I have visited this store and and have been illegally ripped off. On this instance, the item I purchased was clearly, “Price marked“ and this was clearly shown and displayed on the item, however the server demanded I pay a much higher price to what was stated on the item. I completely refused to be exploited as a consumer on this occasion.

I explained to him that this demand was unlawful and I would only pay the price displayed on the packaging of the item, but was met with complete ignorance.

It is a criminal offence to charge a higher price for products that are clearly marked with a visible lower price.

Unfortunately, consumers and hard working people suffer as a consequence of greedy small shopkeepers robbing the public.
