A lovely walk through Sherwood Forest along mostly easy to follow paths. This is a great walk for the whole family.

Known of course as the home of Robin Hood, Sherwood is also known for its ancient trees. one of the oldest you will come across on this walk is the Major Oak, which is estimated to be around 1,100 years old.

From Nottingham, you can take the Sherwood Arrow line for only 2 pounds in Victoria Bus Station, and after almost 2 hours, you are at the front door of the Forest. Lovely place with the only drawback that there are some people driving motorcycles in the footpaths. The rest very lovely and very beautiful oaks, chestnuts, beechs, birchs, and some Scott pines too.

Beautiful walk that was wheelchair accessible. The staff advised us to take the oak trail as that was the most accessible for me. It is an all natural path with some slopes and bumpy parts so take that into consideration if you are a manual user.

Lovely day out, staff are so friendly and helpful. The walk around the area is so beautiful and everything is kept so tidy regardless of how busy the place is.

It's a fantastic place to visit, if you pick a nice and sunny day, you can easily spend a whole day there (till closing time for sure) i strongly recommend to visit it especially if you have kids/dogs or dinosaurs maybe...
There is also a visitors centre with public toilets and is also possible to buy food there if you would get hungry from the long walks!
Enyoy the nature people! Good luck!

We did the oak walk with the kids, took 45 minutes, and was beautiful. Lovely views, and interesting information about the area on notices all the way around.
And a great play area with picnic area. In fact, lots of picnic areas all the way around the walk. Can't wait to come back and try all of the other walks available.

Great place, lots of walks and on site activities, trails, refreshments etc. The easier and shorter ones are relatively pram / wheelchair accessible.

Sherwood Forest attracts thousands of visitors owing to the legend of Robin Hood. We were lucky to visit Sherwood Forest on a beautiful hot summer day and that does make a difference considering the cloudy skies you usually get in England all year round. There are lots of activities to do but when scheduled, so make sure you check their website and see when they are happening and plan your visit. Gotta love Sherwood Forest!

Love Sherwood. Easy paths. New visitor center not open yet but it looked fabulous from outside. The craft center at Edwinstowe is super. Outstanding fossil a and mineral shop, very well priced too. There is also a medieval shop. Lovely all year for a visit, wildlife, nature and a slice of history, myth and legend to boot
Go, visit. It's lovely.

Brilliant place to take kids. Major oak approx 20 min walk from the car park. And is pushchair friendly. In the summer months at weekends Robin Hood is at major oak. Firing his arrows. Kids love it.

A stunning moderate walk to relive the magical history of Sherwood and recall legends of old. To feel the humble awe & power standing in view of the presence of the ancient thousand year old Major Oak tree is an indescribable majestic privilege.

The forest itself has such a beautiful peaceful beauty, even if you are not lucky enough to visit away from the usual hustle of busy times, the blanket of serene energy is well worth the visit.

Unfortunately, I did find the slight incline (4/500 yards) challenging pushing a wheelchair over such bumpy ground, and we certainly wouldn't have made
it to the main attraction without the helpful assistance of a strong volunteer. This was contrary to what I had read in numerous guides and remembered from previous walks from the old car park (now closed), which is definitely a much flatter pathway and half the distance to reach the Major Oak, so not particularly easy for anyone with mobility issues.

Personally, I feel the old carpark should be considered to reopen to offer disabled users a more convenient shorter & safer route, as this pathway also had less embedded logs, which can also hinder the route especially for wheelchairs. ♿

Nethertheless a really wonderfully calming experience for families and four legged friends to enjoy and appreciate the wonder of so many ancient trees and nature’s natural beauty.

We took our daughter 20 years ago and nothing has changed but that's a good thing. It's has amazing charm, great value at just three pound parking. We did the larger walk and just loved it.

Lovely forest with an amazing history. The visitors' centre is mostly a shop and cafe, both pretty decent. Alot of the info is scattered thought-out the forest, which is a lovely way to do it, I think.

When we visited there was an event on with medieval crafts and fighting displays.

We attended the Robin Hood festival with my family, made great use of the forest lots to do and a great day out for the price of parking.
The trees and facts keep the kids interested and who doesn't like to climb fab English oak trees, well worth a visit to experience the legend of Robin Hood.

Absolutely stunning and mystical, great history and well kept natural woods. I look forward to seeing it once they upgrade the visitor centre. I go maybe once a month to take in some fresh air and surround myself with tall oaks and birds tweeting.

Sherwood forest is a great place to visit for an hour or two! Pack a lunch for a picnic! There are plenty of picnic tables in front of Major Oak!

New visitors centre is perfectly placed to welcome visitors to this very special place in our history both in Nature and folklore.
Watch out for Outlaws!
Two small details which must make every Archery roll their eyes when they gaze at the statue of Robin Hood . Robin's arrow is not only on the wrong side of his bow ( it should be resting on his index finger not his thumb) and the arrow itself should be between his fingers (whether he's using a two or three fingered loose) not above all of them. Perhaps if enough people mention it to management it might be repositioned. It's a very easy mistake but at the home of the Legendary Outlaw it should be right.
After all "Nothing's Forgotten" to quote Dick Carpenter.

£4 to park for the day is great value.

The walk to the big oak tree isn't that far at all and lots of trees to climb on the way. Great walk for the family and lots of dogs to keep ours company.
