We've just spent 4 nights at The New Blackthorn Pines & just WOW!😱 What a venue! Absolutely amazing...added bonus is that I caught 2 beautiful carp in the first 24hrs & ken caught a stunning mirror during last night, all in pristine condition....Ben & Charlie are the best and are there when needed no bother at all even with the stresses they just don't need 🙄 & are constantly on the go,i don't t actually think they go home!
An absolute fantastic stay & will highly recommend, booking up now again for next year as i cried when we left 🥲..it's not a 5*......,it's a 10**+....❤🎣 Thank you Charlie & Ben x

We arrived at Pines lake after a slow 4 hour drive and was warmly greeted by Ben who gave us a run down of everything we needed to know
Ben was on hand at any time we needed him but respectfully gave us space with no bother throughout the week.
The lodge and facilities were of the highest quality and cleanliness. We had everything we needed for our duration and felt as though we were fishing from our home, quite literally!
The fishing was fantastic, steady bites throughout the week with some absolute gems landed in incredible condition. We will certainly be returning for both the amazing carp and the peace and tranquility.
Wildlife was entertaining to watch, baby coots being fed by their parents, kites flying low over our heads, dragonflies and even heard a peep from a kingfisher.
All in all we had a 10/10 experience in a 5* accommodation with an excellent fishing week.
Can't wait to return.

This is a fantastic venue. The luxury lodges are second to none and the lakes themselves have a hint of magic about them. Ideal for a break away with the other half, or a family break (Pines Lake). The carp in here are stunning and one or two are pushing the 50lb mark with undoubtedly more to swiftly follow. Massive head of 30lb+ fish with a good chance of a 40lb+. Strongly recommend. Charlie and Ben are fantastic, they are very welcoming and will point you in the right direction in terms of the areas to fish within a given swim, make sure you take their guidance as they are proven right time and time again. I cannot speak highly enough of this beautiful place ❤ (worth taking a float rod to catch some of the impressive perch too!)

Just returned home after a week in the South lodge. We enjoyed our stay and we will return. The lodge interior was spectacular and there was plenty of room outside the front for both of us to fish. Ben was awesome and so helpful. And again We stayed in the Pine this year and what a midweek we had. Charlie and Ben were awesome again. Looking to Book again already.

I booked this place for my partners birthday after seeing it on Facebook. The lodges were so clean and had all the essentials. Large lake that my husband was luckily enough to catch on. We can’t thank Ben enough for everything he helped us out with! Great fishery! Look forward to returning!

The place was amazing, took my lady for a weekend there. I could fish 24/7 and chill with her in a really nice cabin, everything in there you need along with modcons and cosiness. The bailiff Ben was a legend with all the info you need about the lake and surrounding areas. Did a cheeky gender reveal too which looked amazing . Definitely going back there.

We recently stayed in the North Cabin which was exceptionally clean and beautifully furnished. It was a family weekend away whilst my partner and his daughter (aged 12) spent their time fishing 🎣 whilst I enjoyed the tranquility of the venue. It’s so quiet you could hear a pin drop. They managed to catch a fish each in difficult hot conditions and Phoebe managed her own PB being a 32lb common
We would definitely recommend this venue and thanks to Ben for a warm welcome

Beautiful fishery, lovely well equipped lodge and friendly and welcoming staff. Really enjoyed our stay in the original lodge. Was met by Ben on arrival who was very friendly and helpful even pointing out the hot spots. The lodge was gorgeous with everything you need. Nice big swims again with all equipment including tripod, sling, mat and net, even a handy cart to transport all your fishing equipment. Can’t wait to return 🤞🏻 we catch a nice big carp next time 😊

Absolutely beautiful fishery, lodges are lovely and swims large and comfortable to fish. Fishery manager very friendly and gives great advice and help if needed. Not an easy water but very rewarding if fished sensibly and confidently. Would definitely return and if your thinking about booking it just do it you won't be disappointed.

Having just returned from another enjoyable weekend session at @Blackthorn_fishery main lake i felt compelled to write a few words. My good friend (and long term fishing companion) Bob and i have been regular visitors to this venue since 2019 often booking the luxury lodges a couple of times a year rather than making the long trip to France, which we had often done in the previous years.
In our opinion the venue is nothing short of exceptional. The lodges are of the highest quality and with the attention to detail, everything has been thought of to make your stay as relaxing and effortless as possible. It really is like home from home!
The fishing can be challenging at times but this is made clear on the homepage. If you do manage to hook into a carp there's every chance its going to be a cracker and we have managed to land more than our fair share of those in recent sessions including 40's to 47.2 , numerous 30's to 38.7, and 20's to 29.13. All the fish are immaculate which obviously shows how well the fishery is managed and maintained by Charlie (the owner) and Ben (fishery manager).
The carp are growing steadily and the amount of 30's in the lake is becoming mindblowing! The largest resident (the Warrior) is very likely to push through the 50lb barrier this winter/spring if anyone is lucky enough to catch her by then and there's others pushing up right behind her.
The guys are always on hand to help with photos and give advice if needed as they know the lake better than anyone and they really want you to catch.
If you are looking for a holiday to relax and unwind in a tranquil countryside setting, with the chance of catching a uk fish of a lifetime (as we have!), then you cant go far wrong booking a break at this amazing venue. We have indeed rebooked again for autumn 2024.

That’s a wrap. What a fantastic week at Blackthorn Fishery (The Pines Lake) temperatures dropping but the effort paid off, 10 Carp to over 28lb and the majority all over 20lb. Including a small amount of relax time talking tactics in the luxury lodge. Helpful advice and guidance from Ben the fishery manager as always. I even managed to book all our dates for next year before I departed ! Can’t recommend this fishery highly enough and the super attention to detail as well as being always on hand to assist 😃🎣👍

Well what can I say as we head home to Belfast. William and I arrived at Blackthorn Fishery last week and settled into the East Lodge within hours , most definitely a home from home. Between Ben, the site manager and Charlie the owner we were made feel most welcomed and if need be they were only a phone call away. On our second night William caught his PB, a 35 pounder!! This place is the perfect switch off and chill out place for those who live a busy work/personal life and let's face it who doesn't?! I personally feel.I've been to a retreat! Lol. The stillness at night is amazing and so quiet, there are only 4 cabins and we even got to know our neighbours but you can also keep your distance if preferred. We had a super kingsize bed, great weather and TVs in both the living room and bedroom. They really have thought of every need. Lastly, we are currently looking at dates to return and we do not do this lightly as we love new experiences but this little gem of a find it would be silly not to go back.
Thanks again Charlie and Ben! 🐬🐠

Amazing place!! Spotless and faultless accommodation and grounds. My second visit and have already booked for several return visits next year. I was unfortunately only able to fish for 48 hours on a midweek session due to family commitments and managed to pull 6 stunning fish out in that short time to 28lb 10oz (4 of which were over 20lb). I am a novice carp angler and this was only my second time ever carp fishing. Ben the fishery manager is very friendly and helpful and is always more than willing to give advice and offer assistance. If you haven’t been here before i would strongly recommend you give it a go you definitely won’t be disappointed!! Well done Blackthorn for creating such an amazing place!!

This was our 3rd Visit to Blackthorn, and we have booked two holidays already for 2022. So that should say it all!
The lodges are clean and modern. Excellent fishing (although hard). Caught my PB here this time at 35lb. Charlie the owner is very friendly and helpful, and the onsite bailiff Matt is always around to help out and provide useful advice on bait, rigs and areas to fish.
Great value for money for what your actually getting, the overall fishery is at a very high standard, well maintained lawns, even the fishing swims are first class! Lovely views and very peaceful with lots of wildlife.

Blackthorn 5star+ . If you like the big carp vibe with a lodge this is the pace to be! Bailiffs/owners (ben/charlie) are hands on 24/7 at the drop of a text or call. Peaceful countryside settings absolutely stunning. Lodges what can I say, fully loaded with WiFi!!!! WOW 👌. I would definitely recommend. Get it booked blackthorn Fisheries Oswestry.

Had a great week at Blackthorn Fishery. This was our second year running and this time I caught my PB carp at 24lb (but they are much bigger than this in the lake). Fishing here isn't easy, but that's part of the fun, and when you catch your fist fish from here its well worth the wait and effort. If you listen to Carl the bailiff, you can learn a lot of great fishing tips and he will tell you all the good spots to cast to. During our stay each day we could see lots of massive fish topping there heads out the water. The lodge accommodation is excellent and very clean. Charlie & Carl run a great fishery and they are always there to help out when needed. We stayed in North Lodge, but for a change might try South Lodge next year.

Just got back from 5 days here and it's a lovely fishery. Ben was really friendly and helpful, the lodges are wonderful; clean, spacious and well equipped. I'm not really clued up on fishing, but my husband was very impressed and said it's a very well run fishery. He also had a great result, catching 3 good-sized carp while we were there. Overall this place feels very well set up for both the angler and the non-angler and I'm sure we'll be back at some point!

Visit September 2021 - Charlie, Matt and the team at Blackthorn Fishery were amazing. They pre-empt our every need, for instance it was incredibly warm and they brought round a cooling fan to each lodge without being asked. The lodges are impeccably decorated and furnished with every little detail considered, for instance high quality cooking utensils and equipment. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and hotel quality bedding including mattress and pillow protectors being used. Great outdoor space and seating including brick bbq for those balmy evenings. Immaculate grounds and lake, no annoying overgrown trees or bushes etc and the swims were clear and accessible from foliage. The equipment provided, cradle and net etc were all of high quality and in good condition. Good quality fish and venue.
