Very helpful staff who have an extensive knowledge of their products and are often willing to order products in if they don't have them. Very affordable too, saves you driving to B&Q for most things. And the man with no hair is very helpfull too. 😁

Mates have always provided a great service. They have all the DIY products we need at reasonable prices. We have used them for years. The staff in there are fantastic, really friendly and always happy to help. I have young children and they always go out of their way to help me when I already have my hands full.

Always amazing service. I moved into the area about a year ago and every time I get amazing service. The guys know what they're talking about and are always eager to help. Last time I just needed mineral oil to season a chopping board, walk in and get a friendly greeting, I'm telling him what I'm looking for, he points me to the isle, comes over to help without needing me to ask, then when I tell him I need food safe low/no odour, he grabs two options from beside himself without looking.

I was in and out within two minutes.

Absolutely love the team at Mates - today they gave me a free lesson on how to plumb a waste pipe - nothing is too much for them! I'd much rather use Mates than any of the big DIY shops.

Great local DIY store.
Really helpful, friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Been in with a problem and given me a solution I had never thought of.
Eg. Needed a washer for toilet inlet pipe, didn't know the required size - take the pack, bring the others back and will refund you. Cost 12p!
Hired carpet cleaner for the day, brought it back early refunded me for half a day, didn't even ask.

The new manager couldn’t do enough to help.

For a small shop it packs a lot in!
Convenient to get to if you need wallpapers/ lining paper, paint, varnish. Paint brushes etc etc etc. Garden feed, Weedkiller etc.
Light bulbs. Various household item's that are usually downstairs.
Car park behind the shop.
The Staff are always willing to help you if you are unsure what would be the most appropriate tool's and product's for your DIY jobs etc.
I have been a customer for a lot of year's now.
I recommend you have a look for yourself.

Every time I've been into mates, the staff have been incredibly helpful and always helped me find exactly what it is I need to get the job done.

As a DIY amateur, I often find myself knowing what I need to do, but not knowing what product it is I need to achieve it. Due to this, I have, on numerous occasions, vaguely explained to staff what it is I'm trying to achieve and they always point me in the right direction of what I need. They have patience when you don't know what you need, they're knowledgeable about all aspects of DIY and brilliantly helpful.

There hasn't been a time when I've needed something and they haven't stocked an item required, the shelves are always full and the prices very reasonable.

Mates is always my first call for my DIY needs now, cannot recommend it highly enough.

Wonderful service and so helpful. Had a problem putting my side gate back on and got great advice meaning I had the job done in no time. I’m hopeless at DIY so it is nice to go to a shop and get such friendly help. If I could have given six stars I would.
