Small carpark with toilets near to the castle. It's a 5-10 minute walk to reach the castle ruins. Muddy, grassy tracks to reach the ruins, which are on the top of a small mound. Great to look at, free to enter, and plenty of benches about to sit on.

I love Clun, I could happily live there. It’s bliss. Gorgeous countryside. Views and walks. Gardens open once a year to public where you can see into others gardens whom choose to open. Little shops and nice little pub and tea shop.

Not much left but perfect if you like history and photography. Shame the bridge inside has gone there is a fence round the main tower so you can't get inside. Sunset here is stunning. Luckily, the weather was perfect on my visit.

Not much of the castle itself left, just 3 bits of wall. Despite this ut is worth the walk up the hilly site for some amazing views of surrounding landscape on a clear day. Can be accessed from a car park across a foot bridge, car park is pretty small maybe 10 to 20 cars max so we could park on the verge slightly up the hill on the otherside of the road.

Wasn't sure what to expect here, but a delightful chance to explore the ruined castle.
Small car park, but a brief walk took us over a bridge to the park around the castle. Plenty of clambering about. Not good for wheelchair users.
Dog allowed on a lead.

Free to visit site managed by English Heritage, sadly they are not doing a great job as it is heavily overgrown. Remains of a motte and bailey castle with some stonework remains.

The Castle located in the picturesque place on the hill.
Be prepared to do a short, about 10-15 minutes walk from car park to the ruins through the field and up the hill ( can be a little challenging), but worth it when you will reach it.
The castle grounds have steep slopes and uneven ground, so make sure you are wearing proper footwear.
A bit overgrown with stinging netlle, so watch out! :)
Can be impossible for wheel chairs though.
Lots of places for picnic to have a bite, for kids to run around or dogs, or just relax and take that beautiful place in.
Especially beautiful at sunsets.
The car park is free of charge.
Free to enter and open at reasonable daylight hours.
Public toilets are available in the carpark.
Cafe, pub and some shops are in the village.
We have really enjoyed our visit and recommend it too!

Idyllic place to visit everyone so friendly. The castle ruins are free. Public toilet facilities also free. We ate in one of there Pubs which was nice and reasonably priced food was nice. We visited the museum also full of interesting artifacts.
Then had a nice cup of coffee and ice cream from the tea room on the ancient bridge before we left. Can recommend a visit to Clun and it's beautiful surrounding landscape.

Fantastic views and a really good spot to soak in the countryside and peacefulness of the village of Clun. The castle ruins sit on high with a panoramic view of all around and on clear days you can see for miles. There is an information board showing history of the place. The moat can be walked around. I had the pleasure of being guided round by a local cat, really enjoyed having a good fuss.

Clun itselfs is a charming village with great cafés and lovely small shops, the car park is free with toilets based right next to the castle, a very short walk over the bridge and a slight climbs takes you to the ruin. It's possible to walk all round the base of the castle but the views from the top are stunning. The information board gives you an image of just how big the rooms were in its glory days. There are two benches at the top to sit and take in the views. Even though it's a small ruin it's well worth a look!

Clun castle is the epitome of a romantic ruin. Located high on a hill in the midst of a beautiful, small, picture-postcard village, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and sweeping hills. The ruins themselves are reasonably substantial, particularly the tower with some smaller remnants nearby. The castle is surrounded by a lovely open field. The nearby car park and public toilets with a small bridge across the river just adds to the beauty and convenience. Just be warned that access is not suitable for wheelchairs and the approach to the hilltop is quite steep. But if in the area, this is a must visit.

Nice visit. Bit muddy but fine. Highlight...someone got stuck in the toilet but eventually got out

Lovely castle on a small hill with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. The River Lugg (I believe) runs alongside. Good footpaths and limited parking available with a pub nearby. There are picnic benches just before a small bridge that crosses over to the ruins. Information boards posted and is an English Heritage site.

A simple, picturesque village to visit. The Castle ruins provide an amazing viewing point as well as an insight into the past. Paddling in the river and a series of small shops, cafe and bar to enjoy, make this an even more pleasurable outing.

Small car park in the village. Public toilets. Picnic benches by the river.
Short walk over the bridge and up the hill to the castle. Not much to walk around and doesn't take long, plenty of benches to sit with nice views.

A Beautiful Stop on Our Tour!
We made a day trip of touring a few castles by using the English Heritage website. We were able to plot a circuit from our home base in Malvern.
Clun was our last stop before dark and we were not disappointed!
While there isn't much left of the actual castle, what is there is a beautiful piece of history. You can walk right into the ruins via the wooden walkways.
Parking is available but you do have to hike quite a way up some steep hills to get to the castle.
If it had rained recently, you will want water proof boots!
A very peaceful and breathtaking view from the top!

Beautiful little ruin. Very small and not much to walk round but a perfect stop off and the views and sun spots on top are superb. Very cute little area!

Another in the series of Norman border castles, Clun was developed by the Fitzalan family to eventually become a hunting lodge. The ruins are on the edge of village, are free to enter, have a small free carpark with toilets but are not suitable for those in wheelchairs or who aren't comfortable with slopes etc.
Most of the ruins are perched on top of a large motte with a river running down one side of it, which you cross by bridge from the carpark.
Take some time to explore them, enjoy the views and soak up the atmosphere.
