Had our wedding cheese cake from here, was a great price and really loved that you could get a hefty discount by picking it up from the shop.

Ended up costing us £110 for enough cheese for 80 people. We ended up putting a large chunk of it in the freezer, so we’ve enjoyed cheese every weekend for the past four months too!

Just popped into this shop. The assistant was very knowledgeable and passionate about the cheese. Gave us tips on storing, serving and how best to eat them. Very friendly store with a lovely personal touch. Would recommend

I was down on holiday from Scotland over the Christmas period and I noticed this little cheese shop in the centre of Ludlow. It was Christmas Eve and there was a queue outside which told me it was worth waiting to get some cheese as I wanted to try something new. The shop is very small with real character. I was impressed with the variety of cheeses to choose from. Once I was inside I got a great welcome I got the cheese I had spied as I waited. I should say the cheese (Stichelton) was lovely. Great to try something new and the staff deserve a medal for their enthusiasm after what had probably been an extremely busy day for them.

I read Ms Griffin's recent review of the Mousetrap with incredulity, for several reasons. Firstly, the Mousetrap is a splendid shop which deserves a 5 star rating. It has excellent, well-informed, very friendly and courteous staff. I simply do not recognise Ms Griffin's description of the staff from her review. I have always found the Mousetrap's staff (at all times, even during the tough times of lockdown) to be very friendly, very helpful and very customer focussed: they go above and beyond customer expectations.

Secondly, like all independent shops (not just in Ludlow), the Mousetrap is fighting a constant battle against giant supermarkets who have a massively unfair advantage over the small shop. It would never enter my head to expect a small shop like the Mousetrap to hand over some of its hard-earned profit in the way Ms Griffin suggests.

Thirdly, it may have escaped Ms Griffin's notice while she was desperately haggling over £1 that the Mousetrap used to have three shops (Hereford, Leominster and Ludlow). Because of hugely increased costs and competition from supermarkets, the Mousetrap owners have been forced to close the Leominster shop. We are very very lucky that we still have the Mousetrap in Ludlow. Long may it continue with its excellent cheese and (above all) its excellent staff.

And finally I am proud that I use our local independent shops, our delicatessens, butchers, bakers, bookshop and cheese shop. In none of those shops would I dream of asking for (or expect to be offered) money off, because I understand how hard a struggle it is for these shops to compete.

On a very wet miserable day this shop was a ray of light! The woman who served me had a vast knowledge of all the cheeses. Bought five cheeses from the local area and cannot wait to taste them!

We visited on the Saturday of the coronation when we were on a short break in the area. The shop was about to close, but the lovely lady at the counter still served us. She gave us some good suggestions; we bought three local cheeses and were very happy with our purchase.

Full marks well deserved! I order a lot online but I have never ever received such a neat and well packed parcel and it was also delivered by a very friendly guy too. I bought the cheese before from the shop so I know it will be fantastic. I am very happy that you do deliveries and take care of the products so well! Thanks you and will order again soon!

So disappointed to read any bad reviews about this shop. Honestly we are so lucky in Ludlow to have these individual shops which is what makes this town so special. This tiny shop houses a vast amount of delicious cheeses and the lady is longing to give advise and knows them all. I can imagine being on your own with tourists wanting to taste cheeses takes up her time and can becoming testing but in my view this is a shop not the be missed and is a wonderful experience if you come across it down the little passage.

We visited today and cannot praise the produce or service highly enough! The lady serving was friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. We have just enjoyed cheese and biscuits for dinner and then checked out the website for when we run out (we're not from round there). A must visit for Ludlow, or if you're a cheese lover, you must visit Ludlow. Great selection of sheep and goats cheese.

We were visiting Ludlow and stuck our heads in as the window display looked appealing with a wide selection of cheeses local to the area that we were not familiar with. We bought a red cheese a smoked and a local blue cheese and each have been excellent.

Fabulous selection of cheese delivered for Christmas. Some old favourites like Baron Bigod and Comte, and some that were new to us; a lovely smoked hard cheese (that the kids loved), Dorstone goats milk cheese and a few others we'd not had before. All delicious, highly recommended!

What an extremely lovely shop. Two women working in it were so helpful and fun despite being super busy so close to Christmas. Perfect.

Fabulous cheeses at good prices.
Tried the "Vale of Avalon" intersting texture to start but a really well flavored cheese.
