Welsh Holly & Native Plants

Shame there isn't a zero star!!!
Unhelpful, unfriendly, and quite frankly belligerent.

We called on a Friday and, as we wanted a few different types and he didn't have all of them in stock, we we're asked to email our holly requirements, and that he'd get back to us that day. He didn't and didn't even bother to read the email.

We waited until Monday to follow up as we thought he may be having difficulty. On speaking to him he just said he'd been away and neither read the email nor even looked for it. But would get back to us. We're still waiting three weeks later.

If there has been a family tragedy or significant issue that has caused this behaviour, then I wish them well for the future. And hope things improve. However if this is how they do business then ....!!!

I would heartily recommend Burncoose nurseries in Cornwall. We contacted them, discussed our needs, ordered via their website and we were kept informed all the way. From order to delivery it was two days. The hollies are now all planted and look amazing. Lots of choice and very friendly, helpful and happy people.

I found Welsh-Holly via google and was pleased to find a grower that 'appeared' to have a good range of plants and particularly specialised in holly. They had the varieties I needed - all looks good at this point. Finding my way to the 'how to order' page I was pleased to be greeted by the statement that 'it couldn't be easier'. However, there are NO SPECIFIC PRICES on the website, all that is shown is a generalised starting price. No problem, i thought, I will just email them.

I emailed them explaining that I needed a price to quote to my insurers for some replacement holly bushes.

I received a prompt reply - sounds promising doesn't it? However the reply was pitching their services as qualified surveyors to handle a compensation claim and it came complete with a link to his wife's website. I replied and explained that it was already dealt with, I didn't need their 'other' services, I just wanted price and supply of the plants.

At this point I received a response that I found to be rather rude, dismissive and not in keeping with the representations of good and personal customer service portrayed on their website. Their statement implied I was looking for a freebie (a free what? I do not know) and that - get this, i kid you not - "giving prices often led to more questions". Stating that they were old and grumpy they effectively told me to go elsewhere.

All I wanted was a price for some plants!

If you choose to use them, good luck. In the absence of a clear and transparent price list your journey may begin with asking for a price to which you may receive a similar unhelpful response intimating that it isn't worth their effort! Im glad I won't be using them as I wonder what the rest of their 'easy and personal customer service' is like.
