We had a delicious brunch time snack at the cafe du jardin. The entrance way is unassuming but don't let that fool you, this rustic restaurant serves delicious bites and thirst quenching drinks in a relaxed and informal French cafe style both outdoor and indoor tables and believe me this place gets busy. Our server, Albie was an absolute gem, he worked hard to ensure no one was waiting, very attentive and capable. As you can see from my photos the food is excellent. However I wished I had ordered one of the tasting plates as they look fantastic.

Definitely worth trying and I’ll go back again and again!

Cute café with an outdoor courtyard next to an Antiques shop. Went there for coffee and cake but the lunch menu items looked yummy. The lemon meringue cake was delicious as was the orange and ginger cake. There are large parasols in the courtyard to provide shelter. The outdoor seats had cushions on them so they were comfortable to sit on. Service was pleasant.

Lovely cafe, friendly staff although during busy times table service can be very slow. Otherwise, great food and atmosphere.

Stunning and charming little cafe by day, wine/cocktail bar by night. (Friday and Saturday for the bar).

By far one of the best places in lewes, if not East Sussex.

• The decor is brimming with authentic French antiques for the family owned antiques business next to it.
• The food is amazing, headed by Pete the chef who has clearly knows his stuff
• The wine is sensational. Try the Magneric if you don't mind spending a little extra, just leave some for me!
• Relaxed and happy atmosphere. It's hard to be annoyed at anything when surrounded by such beauty.

There's also a huge courtyard which is so good from spring to autumn, when a rather large fire pit comes out to warm up the pstrons.

10/10 will go again!

Lovely service and atmosphere for a laid back Sunday afternoon brunch. Upon request they provided cut avocado on plain toast for my fussy toddler even though there was no such dish on the menu.

Came here on a Saturday morning just as they opened to wait for a friend. Had a great cup of coffee and blackberry frangipane tart. Friendly staff and great ambience.

My only critique would be that the pastry on the tart was too thick, but that really is nitpicking.

A gorgeous little place to visit in the day for beautiful antiques but even better at night. It feels like a secret hideaway where you can while away your Friday night with a bottle of wine and good company. Even better when they have love music!

We had a coffee and a chat at Cafe du Jardin last week and it was so lovely. A hidden gem just out of the busyness of the town. A proper little oasis of calm, perfect spot

We stumbled upon this cafe as we saw a billboard advertising.
Although tucked away it didn't take long to find. There was a quaint seating area outside but because it was cold we opted for indoors. This was down some steps.
Hot chocolate and coffee were both great and the cakes delicious.
Friendly waitress too.
It filled up whilst we were there so guessing locals know about this delightful place.

What a lovely place. A hidden gem in the backstreets of Lewes, with a retro French ambiance and occasional live music.

Great restaurant. Staff were helpful. Food was alright. Took a little while to deliver my order, but perhaps it was because we were a large party. Location is great.

We held our Company launch event at the Café du Jardin in December. The food and service was exceptional, it was extremely well run and they even came up with cocktails specially for the occasion. I have taken people there since and they have all been impressed. Nice courtyard to sit out in, and even if its a bit nippy - blankets are provided. Super coffee too!

I love this cafe. It's tucked away in a little courtyard setting. I love looking at the antiques in the courtyard shops, I love the peacefulness of the place, it's just like being on holiday. They have lovely food and the people who work there are lovely. It's been a while since going to lewes but when I go I seem to end up here away from the bustle. A perfect place after running around lewes.

It's a little tucked away and a great find. We also ended up buying a couple of chairs in the antiques shop attached.
