River Nene Cottages

I haven't stayed here, I collected some furniture. But what a beautiful location. Built right on the water. Absolutely gorgeous, if you could rent one of these properties, just do it.

A wonderful family trip to the cottage made exceptional by the enchanting setting and outstanding hosting of Philip and Stephen. From the warm welcome by Stephen to the attention to detail in the cottage's decor, coupled with the splendid heated pool, our holiday was truly remarkable. The meticulously maintained garden with breathtaking views and river-side swing chair added to the tranquillity. Paddleboarding opportunities and nearby walks, including a journey to a steam railway, provided adventure. In summary, a blend of beauty, relaxation, and excitement, leaving a lasting mark.

We've just spent 6 days at river nene cottages and loved every minute. Wish we could have stayed longer. Beautiful accommodation, wonderful scenery and brilliant hosts, Stephen and Philip. Thank you so much for your hospitality and hope to be back very soon. Xx

This was my third visit to River Nene Cottages - this time with a group of friends. We stayed in 2 of the cottages, both beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and with all the amenities required. The cottages are nestled next to the river, so plenty of wonderful country walks. For me, the thing that makes this place extra special is - it’s wonderful hosts - Stephen and Philip. You can tell they are passionate about the service and accommodation they offer. The location is great - just over an hour from North London - straight up the A1 then 2 minutes from the junction - couldn’t be easier.
On the Sunday we left and visited Stamford - only 6 minutes up the A1. Historic architecture with an array of shops and wonderful food at The George. I highly recommend River Nene Cottages for those looking for a delightful, picturesque, peaceful, private riverside setting with great transport links. Enjoy! X

We have had the pleasure of staying at River Nene for three days last week. We had been to London visiting some friends over the weekend, and had some days to spare before returning home to Norway. We found this place on Google, and thought it looked beautiful and peaceful — just the thing we needed after the hustle and bustle of London. We were not disappointed. We think that the photos on their homepage don’t do the place justice. The location is just stunning, next to a calm river with river boats passing by occasionally. The cottage we rented was gorgeously furnished and may be compared easily to high end hotels. The only thing we missed was a magnifying mirror in the bathroom. We were a bit surprised that no breakfast was served in the morning. However, we realised that it is clearly stated both on their homepage and on the booking site that it is self catering. The hosts lived in a separate house, and were very friendly and attentive — we particularly liked the personal touch of this stay. It truly is a special place.

Absolutely fantastic overnight stay. Stephen and Philip are the perfect hosts and are passionate about their business, the cottages and really looking after their guests. Nothing is too much. I will be back sometime soon with the kids so they can try out the pool in summer!
Recommended for business travellers (great links to the A1 and beyond), couples and families alike. Can't think of any negatives and I travel all over the place.
Best nights sleep I've had in ages. Beautiful setting ... beautifully furnished ... clean ... warm ... inviting ... no more words needed.

River Nene Cottages is beautiful and picturesque! We first stayed in one of the cottages, Coach Cottage, for 6 weeks, and now make weekend visits every few weeks. The cottage is beautifully furnished and has a full kitchen (oven, microwave, fridge, washer / dryer). It's a historical building and has been fully restored. It looks out to the village church and is right by the River Nene. We go for amazing country walks with our dog. The hosts Stephen and Philip are wonderful - friendly, very helpful and accommodating. When we need anything, we just have to knock on their door. I highly recommend River Nene Cottages for a gorgeous English countryside vacation.

I spent a fantastic weekend at River Nene Cottages. The location is stunning, overlooking the river with beautiful swans and ducks to complete the perfect picture. Our hosts Stephen and Philip were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We all felt like old friends when we departed on the Sunday. I can't wait to visit again and again and again...

Wonderful...hired all 3 cottages for a long weekend. Steven and Philip were the most gracious hosts. Pool was heated and so was the hottub. Lovely grounds and surroundings. Cycling and walking on your doorstep. Would love to visit again.

I'm in love with the River Nene Cottages. I had a great time with my husband and my kitten in the Coach Cottage. The owners are friendly, helpful and made us to feel at home. The property is so pretty, the cottages are lovely and cozy. They recommended nice restaurants and places to visit. It is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the nature. We will come back and I will recommend for all my friends.

Lovely Cottage, we stayed at the Coach Cottage, which is charming and cozy, extremely well decorated by the owners. There is plenty to do near by, all small towns are very pretty and we specially liked the Normanton Church. We spent some great time at the Cottage itself, just relaxing, enjoying the swimming pool and the scenic views. Finally, don't miss out on spending some time with the hosts, they are very friendly and love what they do.

Theses cottages are beautiful and excellently located for London and the local area. The owners are very friendly and accommodating, they even kindly looked after our dog for a few hours whilst we were out. Cottages are excellently furnished and very comfortable. Will definitely be staying there again.

Cannot recommend this place enough! Such amazing hosts, Stephen and Phil made us feel so welcome and was so helpful which made our stay here the best! I cannot wait to return, we stayed in coach cottage and couldn’t fault a single thing. Stunning grounds, beautiful and clean cottages, brilliant hosts. Just perfect! Thankyou so much for everything! I have not long completed a 7-8 week stay at the River Nene cottages for the duration of a working project in Peterborough.
My colleague and I found the choice of hotels in the area poor (to say the least) and luckily found the cottages on our booking system, so immediately made enquiries.
Stephen and Phillip were accommodating from the get go and allowed us to provisionally book without commitment while we scoped out the place - within minutes of our arrival we had made up our minds to commit!!
Whether you’re staying for a work commitment like me, traveling with friends & family or looking for romantic get away with partners - the accommodation is absolutely fantastic with everything you need - 5 stars do not do it justice!!
Stephen and Phillip went above and beyond to make us welcome and even let us host a work BBQ in the house garden - where their beautiful huskies were the guests of honor.
I would go back in a heartbeat 😁

This venue offers amazing quality in every respect. The cottages are unbelieveably well finished and the grounds are beautiful! The owners are most accomodating in their approach. An oasis of peace and beauty. The local walks are in stunning countryside and Peterborough is quite near, as is Burghley House!!
High quality self-catering in every sense!

Five stars is not a high enough ranking for these cottages and their owners. My wife and I came to River Nene Cottages as essential workers after the pandemic lockdown closed the hotels in the area and we needed a place to stay. Stephen and Philip answered the call and immediately went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. Four months later and we are eternally grateful they came into our lives.

We stayed in the Yew Tree cottage and it had everything we needed to make us feel at home. The gardens on the property are immaculate and views of the river are beautiful! You can take walks through the paths along the river and enjoy the countryside or spend the afternoon lounging by the gorgeous pool. We spent countless hours reading and relaxing in the garden soaking up the sun. If the weather isn’t the best the cottages have more than enough WiFi to stream your favorite movies or shows plus they have enough books, movies, and games to help pass the time. We would recommend taking in the sunsets on the river, they were spectacular!

We were apart from our dogs and missing them terribly but their two huskies Sasha and Mishka were so sweet and friendly. We may have spoiled them with belly rubs and head pets but they helped the time away from our dogs be just a bit easier.

Stephen and Philip delivered on anything we needed and could not have been more accommodating hosts. These cottages are a must stay!

Picturesque cottages with lovely hosts! We've now stayed twice in Barley Cottage and loved it both times! (Apr & Aug 2016) Water Newton is a most charming setting and the cottage was a very comfortable, relaxing and clean home for us. Great location for peaceful walks along the River Nene. There was steam trains, canal boats and beautiful big sky views. Perfect for visiting Peterborough, Stamford and beautiful Burghley House as well!

Some places deserve more than 5 stars - this is one of them.

If you are travelling for business or pleasure and there are at least 2 of you, do the maths and decide if you want a budget hotel or a fantastic cottage set in splendid grounds. For us it was a no brainer.
We have booked here for the duration of our stay, 10 weeks, and we cannot stop pinching ourselves that we have stumbled across this gem. It does not deserve to be a well kept secret, it should be able to double its prices and still have a queue of guests elbowing each other to get in. Treat yourselves now before prices do increase, it richly deserves your patronage.

Absolutely stunning place overlooking the canal and fields beyond. The rooms are very beautifully decorated and done out. And Phil and steve are very friendly and always on hand to help you out. We will definitely be going back big thumbs up.

Lovely place to stay! Made to feel very welcome the cottage was warm, cosy, clean had great nights sleep. The garden backs on to the canal and has swimming pool what more could you ask!!
