Absolutely phenomenal pub! The dinner was delicious and the service made us (and our dog) very welcome. Beer is lovely too. There is also a small museum on naval hero Nelson and Trafalgar. Well worth the visit!

We had a wonderful meal here - welcome was warm, service was friendly and the food although on the higher end for pub food, was really delicious. We tried the buttermilk chicken burger and the pie - both excellent - and the lemon posset for dessert was wonderful. Dogs are made very welcome, ours certainly loved the treat station. We really enjoyed the museum to the rear of the pub - super interesting. Would definitely visit again if we were in the area.

Came across here after getting detoured by Google on our way to Holkham hall. We came in for lunch, so we had tomato soup and tomato arancini only. Both were excellent, well prepared and very tasty. Great selection of Woodfords beers.
The decor is lovely, all related to Lord Nelson and extremely interesting! The beer garden is large and spacious, looking forward to coming back in summer.
Menu was very good, limited on vegetarian offering but there were a couple of options.
The village is lovely too and don’t forget to go to the church where lord Nelson’s father was the vicar.

Great place.
Haven't been for some years, but decided to pop in as Nelsons Shantymen were singing.
The front half of the Pub is very traditional and very old. We like it.
A huge and modern extension has been put on the back. Impressive and totally understandable from the business point of view however we were initially a little taken aback.
If you do visit, please ensure that you see the old part alongside the new 🙏
Good Menu.
Good service
Good Food (although priced more than we would normally pay)
Will certainly return 👍

I hadn't been here for years & years and thought it would be a great place to stop-off after a drive up to the coast and see if I could buy one of their famous bottles of 'Nelsons Blood' (spiced rum). After dumping the car in the large car park(s) we wandered in to be greeted warmly and asked for a table for lunch. After a cheeky non-alcohol drink (they have loads of varieties for the non-drinker) the lady came over to ask up what we would like. We were umming & arrring until she said, "What about or special ham, egg & chips?". We looked at each other and turned back and both said "Sold!". That meal was epic. Look at that ham!!! How they cut the chips like that i'll never know. Great staff, great food, unpretentious and five stars from us. Thank you! (No joy on the rum front as they were out of one of the ingredients due to 'national shortage'. Never mind...)

The staff were really great. They were short staffed that lunchtime but explained clearly they would be a bit slower and were we happy to take a bit longer. In the end it was only slightly longer and really not a problem. I am a great fan of honesty up front, under promise and over deliver! They certainly over delivered and we will definitely be returning.

Just returned from a Norfolk Restaurant Week lunch at the Lord Nelson. Cannot praise it enough - fantsatic value, menu was varied, the food was excellent and the portions good - Bao bun with Mongoian lamb and red snapper scampi for starters, we both went for the beef as the main, banana loaf and chocolate torte for desert. Nice atmosphere in the barn extension and good service. They keep their beers well also. If you can get booked before 10th November then go!

Superb meal with excellent service from all who we engaged with. The pie was excellent and my wife really enjoyed the burger. The table we had, to the front of the pub was a little dark & gloomy, but that could have been how we selected our on- line booking.
Highly recommended and a lovely setting.

Wonderful pub with fantastic food. We booked a couple of days in advance for a table of 13. I was amazed they managed to accommodate and was so glad they did. The food was terrific. I had the plaice with a side of samphire fritters which was delicious, but everything else looked lovely too. Service was good too and very welcoming. Would highly recommend!

Always a warm welcome. The food is of a very high standard and they go out of their way to accommodate my son’s allergies. Highly recommend.

Popped in for a quiet drink late afternoon. Lovely renovated pub/ restaurant. Did not sample the food but looked a nice menu.
Lovely pint of Woodesfords stout.
Nice friendly staff. Shame we didn't have the chance for food.

Folks, this fine pub needs support!!! Lord Nelson lived in the village and frequented the pub.
Closed for a number of years, re-opened recently after a very expensive refurbishment and now leased to Woodfordes Brewery of Norfolk.
It has been bit hard by the impacts of covid and also omicron over the Christmas holiday period.
The food is superb AND I MEAN SUPERB!
The staff are excellent, friendly, diligent and attentive; cellared ale is wonderful.
Decor is great- a combination of 18thC and contemporary which works really well. It is clean too.
Get yourselves down there for lunch, an evening meal or Sunday roast. The roasties are the best pub roasties I have sampled for many years and I don't say that lightly either!
So to remind you make a point of visiting soo er rather than later. We need more pubs like this...

What a brilliant find! After another epic walk from Holkham to Creake Abbey we back tracked up to Burnham Thorpe, saw Nelson’s birthplace and then found this pub.
Place recently renovated and it’s very nice, large back garden and interior, staff really friendly and the food - Seafood share plate was delicious!!!

Great little place with every Woodforde's beer on offer and a good selection of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. A tad pricey but the quality service made up for it.

Really lovely meal. Living not a million miles from the pub decided to go out for a meal as youngest son was staying. The food and service were excellent. I had fish and chips, hubbie had steak and son had the burger. All three dishes were beautifully cooked and presented and the service was great.wishing you great success this coming year.
