I was in store today looking for hiking boots for an upcoming Safari Camping trip and Mount Kilimanjaro Trek, and left with the perfect pair thanks to Charles! He was extremely knowledgable, measured my feet and gave various options to help me find the right boots. I really appreciate the time taken and his expertise. A huge asset to the team.

Visited after making an appointment. I have tried on many walking boots in many stores recently without success but Charles today was fantastic. He obviously knows his stuff and is both helpful, offering sensible alternatives to try, and a great communicator, informing me all the time what he was doing and why. I cannot recommend the Guildford store, and especially Charles highly enough!

Popped in today to see why walking boots were causing blisters. Charlie explained boots were too big and where we went wrong when buying them as well as the socks. As he'd measured feet made clear no pressure to buy boots and was happy to show us possible boots. Throughout our time there, there was no pressure to buy, was happy for us to try on boots and kept us informed what was happening and why boots felt the way they did. Will be coming back when my walking boots die.

I had been hunting for a particular Rab rainjacket, endlessly chasing my tail. Following a call to the Guildford store, they said they had one in stock and would put it by for collection. Sam was extremely helpful in every way possible when I needed further items and couldn't help enough. Even when it got to closing time, I felt no pressure to vacate the shop. The Rab jacket by the way was exactly what I wanted. The entire experience was a pleasure, they were helpful to the extreme, efficient and knowledgeable and I will certainly be returning to make more purchases. Special thanks to Sam from Paul White.

Bought some hiking boots on Boxing Day 23. Had a really informed and knowledgeable sales person who took time to understand exactly what I was after. I didn’t catch his name but hopefully the company will recognise his value. Definitely recommend.

Looking for running spikes, this store was suggested to us. They did not have any in stock but the gentleman there gave us some advice for other locations to try and was extremely helpful.

Fantastic customer service when buying walking boots. We made an appointment (using the online booking system) for me and my husband to buy hiking boots. The sales assistant was so helpful and obviously very experienced. We are delighted with our our purchases and will definitely go back again.

Great service. The guy selling me some walking boots was very knowledgeable and offered solid advice without pushing products at me. The guy at checkout was extremely pleasant and efficient. Overall a great experience and I am very happy with the walking boots I purchased.

We visited the shop on Monday and the staff couldn't of done more to help. They were so friendly and accommodating. Also a wide range of products for men and women. Highly recommend if you're looking for hiking, running, outdoor clothing and equipment!

A really great range of outdoor equipment over two floors. Everything is well organised with products for all seasons and budgets. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable but happy to leave you to it

Visited with a view to buying a jacket, they have a great selection of makes and styles to choose from, no pressure from the sales staff they left me to browse and try on different jackets. Great experience at the till with the added bonus of a 15% discount upon production of my National Trust membership card. The guy at the till was very helpful, explained about the warranty and gave me details about a warranty extension for the item I bought. Would recommend them.

Didn’t end up buying but had great, attentive customer service in the shop when I wanted to look at options for some low cut hiking shoes. Staff were able to find some niche options more suited to my narrow feet despite it being a busy period.

Amazing service, spent an hour looking for walking boots. They measured me, advised me, told me which manufactures would be best suited to my foot shape and width as a I have wider feet (5/5 for service) but they unfortunately didn't have the size I wanted. I was given my measurements and what I tried on in the store on a sheet of paper so I'd remember.
Would love to have bought from them but no stock on the day.

Buying goods online is not, as we are now discovering, always cheaper. And no amount of totally unverifiable reviews are going to help you decide what to buy!
So imagine a shop that has trained, knowledgeable staff that will help you make a good decision. Imagine also a wide range of goods available in one place to try different sizes so that you can make an informed decision. All without a single trip to the queue at the post office!

Cotswold Outdoor is such a place. The staff are very friendly and helpful. You can even book an hour's appointment with someone who actually knows what they're talking about. This is 1 high street retailer that I hope Amazon never drives into the ground.

Had a great experience yesterday whilst searching for a trail shoe. John was very helpful, knowledgeable, understood my exact requirementsand made my shopping trip a success after previous 2 hours of searching in all the other running and hiking stores in Guildford. We found a shoe in minutes! . Thank you!
