Hereford Post Office

I can't agree with any poor reviews towards this Post Office. Considering other stores have closed and banks have removed various counter services - foot fall has increased drastically! On top of this, and through no fault of management an increase in number of staff has been denied. Though technological improvements have been made ( passport/DVLA renewal) , this has hindered opposed to helped the length of time spent in a queue, and let's face it this is something that can be completed online. As the tablet is the same process. I'm completely on the side of the staff here, as from the moment those doors open, it's endless abuse for 8 hours solid. Yet they still manage to provide an excellent service and remain positive. So be more considerate and think before you leave a review.

My wife applied to renew her passport on 20/9/23. We had our application checked by Jacky at the Hereford Post Office (rear of WH Smith). She was very helpful and efficient. She checked that the form and photos were correctly completed. Her manner was friendly.

We had a very positive experience in Hereford post office yesterday with Helen the manager. She helped us with a little know service called “Poste Restrante”. Helen spent ages checking info and giving us a helpful solution to our problem and we thank her for that and wanted her help to be recognised. Well done Helen

No queue, Time about 14:45 Saturday I was in and out in no time.

Front line staff are always quite excellent but this location is often woefully understaffed on Saturday morning.

Once upon a time Post Offices used to be prominent places in town and city centres, sadly these days they are now so often just counters at the back of a retail shop. The Hereford one being such an example, situated in WH Smiths. I got here early but a queue quickly started to form behind me and the shop looked under staffed, like so many places they like to push people towards self service. The lady that served me was polite and friendly so I went away happy but miss the previous Post Office. If visiting here be prepared to queue.

Monday 8th April 2024 I waited an hour in a queue of SEVEN people to see about having help to renew my passport.
The one lady serving was taking 15 minutes with a couple of customers.
When I finally reached the front of the queue the lady had 0%customer service skills and didn't even know how much it cost to renew a passport!!
Surely this time of year many people are doing this,and it's not exactly rocket science.
For a main post office I was appalled,unfortunately it gives all the smaller post offices,with excellent customer service skills a very bad name,when at this current time they need all the support they can get.

No staff, long wait. Desk closed. Left to inaccurate Self-service machines only.

I am not from hereford but today I used this post office. What a rediculouse place about 20 people in line and only one member of staff. I think the manager needs to do their job and make sure its staffed better I was stood over 30 mins before I was finally served. And the cashier looked as miserable as sin. Will never use that post office again I come from a very small town and that post office is run allot better and staffed better.

Massive queue and a 25 minute wait for a simple transaction. One woman serving and some other young kids apparently just messing around behind the counter. The old post office was massively efficient, no idea why they moved it into the bowels of WH Smith and understaffed it?

Website says open until 17:30, went at 16:45 and quite rudely told that the staff were going home and counter services were unavailable with only self-service being left open. This was not an option for me as I wanted to pay cash into my account, which I can only do at the counter. Very misleading to say its open until 17:30. I was one of several customers trying to access counter services at the time so it's not as if there is no demand for it to be open until actual stated time!

Always a queue, always appears to be one member of staff working.
Have tried the self service kiosks was a failure due to constantly breaking down.
Despite how big the queue gets, they will not put additional staff on to alleviate the congested queue.

What an unhelpful place! The staff are more interested in having mundane conversations about Brexit with members of the public, than helping customers. Service with a scowl is the order of the day!

Waited 45+ mins in a queue to pick up a parcel because despite having 5 service counters and 3 visible staff, only the travel money counter was manned.

Worst post office i’ve ever been to. ALWAYS long queues with slow servers and only ever 1 or 2 staff on which is just not enough!
Never see a manager present and the people at the self scan are always waiting for someone to go help them!
I’m shocked this kind of customer service is seen as acceptable by the post office! It’s truly horrendous!

To Helen the manager: you’re incompetent and shouldn’t be involved with working with people in the slightest. Maybe in an office on your own will be suitable for you. You were very pleasant to the white people you were dealing with though - I was stood in line for long enough to see that!
