Amazing food. We loved the Bakewell tart and other items that we ordered. Excellent ambiance. We were not quite happy with the toilet, it was disgusting. The queue in their bakery is longer than the great wall of China, seems like the whole town is there. I guess people love them.

The pulled pork panini had a lot of flavour and the burrata and tomato salad was so good. Our child loved the bakewell pudding freak shake as well. We have also tried the Bakewell tarts, white chocolate and cranberry tiffin and the treacle tart. Everything here is really good and the staff are really nice!

The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop is a delightful gem in the heart of Bakewell, offering a warm, inviting atmosphere and an array of delicious treats that are sure to please any palate.

**Food and Experience:**

I recently stopped by for what they call a "light bite" and opted for the steak sarnie. My days, it was amazing! The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, complemented beautifully by the sharp kick of horseradish. The sandwich came with curled chips, which were delightfully crispy and well-seasoned. Despite being listed as a light bite, the portion was quite generous, more like a main meal, especially with the substantial tiger bread holding everything together. It was an unreal combination that left me thoroughly satisfied.

After such a hearty and delicious meal, it would have been rude not to join the queue for their famous Bakewell Tart and Pudding. The shop’s namesake treats did not disappoint. The Bakewell Tart was exquisite, with its delicate almond flavor and perfect pastry. The Bakewell Pudding, with its rich, custardy filling and flaky crust, was equally divine. Both are must-tries for anyone visiting Bakewell.

**Overall Experience:**

The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop provides an exceptional dining experience, combining hearty meals with traditional desserts in a charming setting. The quality of the food and the friendly service make it a standout destination in Bakewell. Whether you're stopping in for a quick bite or indulging in their famous tarts and puddings, you’re in for a treat.

Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a taste of Bakewell's culinary heritage in a cozy and welcoming environment. Don’t miss out on this local treasure!

A destination restaurant. It's worth the trip on its own.
Advise booking beforehand, however.
The menu does not have the largest selection but its none the worse for it. The food is fantastic!
If you don't have room for pudding, the shop downstairs allows you to take some home.

A warming, cosy cafe / restaurant tucked away in the beautiful town of Bakewell. We were welcomed in and quickly were served. The cake and coffee was delicious, and the cake slices were massive. It was a great experience, and lovely to look round the gift shop downstairs too.

We were super late because of our hike and because it wasn't busy they were very accommodating. The food was reasonably priced, quickly served and tasted delicious. The queue at the shop was long but that’s because the cakes are delicious and so worth the wait. Will be back soon.

All the produce tastes amazing, the shop just needs help with the ambiance when queuing and the packaging of bakes really lets the shop down. If you want any help with this please let me know and I’d be happy to offer my services and advise free of charge.

Bakewell puddings and Bakewell tarts are not actually why we came here, but it was great to taste the original recipes. Expect to queue if it’s summertime or busy season, but the outdoor seating among the flowers is well worth the trip. Go on a Monday and you can catch the market as well!

We've not been to dine here for years. I don't know why, because today's experience was exceptional.
The quality of food is second to none! I do not state this lightly !!
We have eaten in some outstanding places , but not to this standard!
Many thanks . What a wonderful experience.
We had the Fish finger sandwich on tiger bread, and BBQ Pulled pork & smoked apple wood cheddar panini.

On holiday in the area, bought a large Bakewell pudding to take away, as the shop was busy. Pastry was delicious and flaky and filling was generous. A must-try and totally different from a Bakewell Tart!

The pastry did not last long enough for me to get a photo it was that good. I popped in for a traditional Bakewell pudding, as I didn't manage to get one last time I was in the area.

There was a reasonably sized queue, but service was very quick so I didn't have to wait too long.

Loads of baked goodies on offer but the speciality is the Bakewell puddings, so there is something for the whole family!

This was so good we ended up eating there three times. Morning, afternoon, late afternoon.

I’m not a big fan of English Breakfast, I must admit. What I was served was good and not soaked in fat and so, which I really appreciated. My poached egg was unfortunately a hard boiled. I was on a 4 out of 5. The service and coffee was really good and definitely took it up a notch.

Then I tasted the Bakewell pudding, and my good God, it was delicious! I’m not much into sweet deserts, and I did not expect much of it due to previous food experiences eating out in UK. But wow. I fell in love.

Later I returned to have smashed Avocado. A brave move to spice it a bit up from the kitchen’s side had me praising the place. 5 out of 5. It was a proper size meal, fresh and tasty. The poached egg was perfect.

Last visit I had Croque Monsieur. Not many outside France gets it right. But I was not disappointed. I end up on a 5 out of 5 despite the bell pepper in the salad. Bold move.

I can’t wait to return - I’ll return for the food at this specific place. Thank you!

The original Bakewell pudding bakery which sells some nice bread, pastries and random stuff. We got some small puddings to try and they were delicious. The filling was not overly sweet and the crust was nice.

Reserved a table and glad we did as it was full, when we arrived. Staff extremely friendly and pleasant. Food was absolutely amazing, we had a fish finger sandwich and a pulled pork panini, they were served with salad and piping hot home made chips. The fish finger sandwich was worth the trip on its own….
Will definitely return!!

We had taken away Pastel denata, the famous Bakewell tart and Bakewell Pudding from here..all are super delicious.
Staff was lovely. We didn't get chance to sit and eat there as it was nearly their closing time.

The Bakewell tart from this place is heavenly - goes without saying it is the best Bakewell tart I have ever had! I especially enjoyed the very generous filling which is much more plentiful than store bought Bakewell tarts.

We had a lovely pot of tea and pudding upstairs. The staff were friendly and polite. The food and drink was perfect and the tea room gave a cosy feel. Definitely worth a visit.

Had lunch here yesterday with my wife (cheese and onion quiche, side of chips, Bakewell pudding). Can’t fault at all really; food was perfectly cooked, perfect temperature, presentation was great. Service was great. Only thing missing was ice in non-draught drinks, especially in this warm weather. I could have asked for some I suppose, but I didn’t. It should be provided. Drink was chilled anyway. Very happy customer though. Thank you, it was the highlight of our day!
