Pontymoile Basin

Pleasant walk along the canal towpath down to the five locks. A number of points of interest en route. Refreshments available in the cafe at the start of the walk.

I had viewed this to visit when I was back in Wales. Easy to park. Taken the right path over the bridge to pub along canal. Place is clean and kept well. Must visit in summer although December is nice.

We wanted to discover the canal system in Wales and found this one.

One lime furnace still remains and a nearby cottage.

Always nice to drop in here for a bite to eat before a walk along the canal. Friendly staff, reasonably priced and good quality food. Lovely well kept spot to sit and enjoy the weather 😀

A lovely spot on a beautiful stretch of canal, the food is reasonably priced and very nice, I had a sausage bacon and egg sandwich and it was delicious. The only downside is the main road running nearby but I imagine it’ll be quieter in the summer when the trees offer a sound barrier

Little boat cafe. Reasonable parking. Toilet facilities were out of order while I was there which was a shame. Excellent access to canal pathways and waterways. Pubs within walking distance.

So much to explore. Great fun for the kids with easy walks and a great waterfall do discover. There is also a cute cafe with outdoor seating amongst the trees.

Very pleasant, stopped for breakfast and coffee at Boat Yard Cafe.

Beautiful peaceful place to visit just down by the Avon llwyd river which goes underneath the canal at Pontymoile. Accessible for most people even got wheelchair down quite far close to the river.

Lovely small canal basin, we launched our canoe here for a trip up the canal, had a good breakfast bap from the cafe, the staff were really friendly and helpful. Launch is free but the car park is for the cafe, and shuts when the cafe shuts, there is some additional parking just outside on the road though. Toilet also available on site.

Fab fab and more fab. Beautiful part of the canal and the cafe is great. They even sell dog biscuits (profit goes to a dog charity). I always return home feeling happy & relaxed after a trip to the basin and the wallk along to New Inn.

Wonderful food and great choices. Used by a lot of walkers, cyclists and runners. I would highly recommend. They do a great bacon sandwich

Lovely little spot with a cafe open until 2 for a cuppa and a bacon roll or a scone. Café menu very dated but probably works in this location after a long walk or a chance to escape to the canal.
