Quite frankly, the best pub in the known universe. Great beers, loved by the locals. I measure all other pubs I visit against The Goyt. It's the best.

Wonderful, unpretentious traditional British country pub, with some fun quirky touches in the decor that made us smile.
Very dog-friendly and welcoming towards people who were clearly not locals.
Great choice of craft beers (though more than one red wine would have been nice). No food, but that's fine as the pub was lovely just as it was.

Cracking little pub with an 'olde world ' atmosphere. Coal fire always burning on these chilly nights, service with a smile from Tony. Wonderful place to have a drink.
Not wheelchair friendly out the back but the small threshold at the front door is easily surpassed. No wheelchair facilities inside but it's a very old building and I don't think any changes could be made to the existing facilities. There are facilities on the main road accessible by radar key. Only a short walk from the pub.

Food isn't served here and children under 12 cannot go in but what a lovely pub.

Came in looking for friends as we were late, thought we were in the wrong place but I asked the landlord if he knew our friend which he did so panic over, I love pubs and you could sit in the same seat and see something different everyday. Refurbished pubs are not for me the place was busy and friendly I fancied bitter but all to often it’s all light beer low and behold the landlord heard me and stirred me to an amber/dark beer and tasted like nectar perfect wish I could of stayed longer

Proper pub. Called for a last drink before making tracks back to our motorhome. Barman very informative. Can’t believe there are no taxis in Whaley Bridge. Had to walk 🚶♀

The Goyt is what you would describe as a' proper pub' ,which is popular with local residents and visitors alike. Tony (and his wife Jen) provide a great selection of cask and draught beer which is always kept in pristine condition. The pub has a cosy and welcoming feel to it -people who like pubs would class it as 'idyllic' and it is rightly at the centre of the local community.

It's a great locals pub, The landlord is clearly trying hard! The pub has regular changing cask ales and a good choice at the bar, but if this pub is not supported like so many others all this will be wasted!
Support or lose! Check opening times & go and enjoy a few drinks in a great pub.

Lovely local pub with a warm welcome given to visitors. Place has plenty of character, not least behind the bar and the landlord keeps a great cellar as well. Good tasting guest ales and probably the best Guinness in the High Peak.

A very popular Whaley Bridge Pub. Good selection of Ales. Don't serve food but the selection of Ales makes up for it.

This has been my favourite pub in the village for several years and it never disappoints. Not only is it an attractive honey-coloured old stone building, but it's one of a dwindling number of genuinely traditional country pubs whose interior is unspoilt by designers who generally have no clue what a real pub should look like. Instead it appears that its decor has grown organically over the years, enhanced by quirky touches, like the print of the Georgian era giant square sheep, painted knick-knacks from canal boats, and ecclectic collection of toys in the window. The inside feels solid and dependable as if it's always been there, and there's a comforting sensation of stepping back in time to days when the world was a less troubled place.
The pub is loosely divided into two sections to the left and right of the front door, and has a snug booth close to the bar. There are also two small areas of outdoor seating to the front and rear of the building.
In winter there's a welcoming fire in the section to the left of the front door where people and dogs gather and socialise.
The landlord, Tony, is possessed of a dry wit which draws you in as much as the pub itself. I'd recommend checking out the venue's Facebook page if you're in need of a smile. Both Tony and his friendly wife Jen create amusing posts about the out of hours adventures the aforementioned toys have inside the pub, and these always give me a lift. One particularly lovely touch the staff have made is the recent change to the pub sign. After the infamous near-disaster in 2019, when the village was nearly swept away, following the partial collapse of the dam on nearby Toddbrook reservoir, emergency responders flew Chinook helicopters night and day to drop ballast bags into the broken section of the dam, plugging the void and saving Whaley Bridge from watery disaster. In a sweet nod of acknowledgement and thanks, the Goyt changed its sign to a painting of a Chinook, providing a permanent tribute to the heroism of the teams who went above and beyond to save the village. This is a great pub, and its popularity with locals and visitors alike is very much deserved.

A real Derbyshire public house. Hidden just off the main road

This is a gem of a pub - centrally located, friendly, relaxed and serving great beer. Their Facebook account is regularly updated with news and events but the landlord is at pains to keep this an authentic, traditional pub experience. It will not disappoint.

Can't think of a better place to spend some time than The Goyt Inn. Excellent beers, no music so lots of chance for good conversation that can be heard, and dog-friendly too. Don't miss it if you're in Whaley Bridge.

Lovely local pub in Whaley Bridge close to the River Goyt. Friendly staff and good choice of drinks - just what we needed after a day on the canal

Visit 1st week of August 2021, still had covid rules and table service in place, which lead to a safe environment for a drink. Sadly too early in the year for dark stout ale.
