Stayed here in our motorhome on a Saturday evening in August. Paid to park during the late afternoon/evening in the main car park near the entrance/welcome centre for Tintern abbey in one of the coach spaces. Great dinner in the pub (claimed back the £5 parking we’d paid), then moved our motorhome into the main tarmac car park in the evening next to the pub itself (as the landlady had recommended). Really quiet night - had breakfast in the café over the road next to the public toilets - open v early.

A really lovely pub next to the abbey.

The food is great and especially the tower burger.

Plus, we watched the football on the tv with a lovely pint of Nightstar.

The Anchor Inn serves up an unforgettable dining experience with their impeccably fresh fish and chips. From the crispy, golden batter to the tender, flaky fish within, every bite is a testament to their commitment to quality. And let's not forget the peas – a delightful side dish that perfectly complements the main attraction. With each visit, you're greeted with warmth and hospitality, making you eager to return for more of their delectable fare. If you're craving a taste of the sea done right, The Anchor Inn is the place to be.

We had lovely light lunch 😋 sandwiches and salad . Fresh bread with ham off the bone and cheese. Salad had a lovely dressing on it and was well presented on the plate.

The steak was probably one of the nicest I’ve ever tasted! The pub wasn’t too busy for a weekday. The pub is dog friendly & muddy boots are welcomed also. Which was great after a muddy walk in the mountains.

After visiting the outstanding Tintern Abbey, we visited the Anchor Inn and enjoyed delicious glasses of Spiced Apple Cider. The bar is beautiful and the team is super friendly.

The Anchor is so much you do not expect of a pub right up close to a major tourist attraction.
You pay £5 to park all day in the car park with the promise of your money back when you spend in the pub. This gives the opportunity of a long walk, a visit to the Abbey and a guaranteed return to the pub.
we did all of this and were rewarded with a late lunch in atmospheric surroundings with lovely views of the Abbey and the Wye Valley. There is also a large beer garden and a garden room cafe if you are not a pub fan.
The food choice is good with all the traditional dishes you would expect to find on a pub menu plus excellent seasonal, vegetarian options. My friend had the leek tart with new potatoes and salad and I had the chickpea salad, topped with char-grilled cherry tomatoes. Both were exceptionally good.
Staff were helpful and when it came to paying asked if we had a voucher.
All credit to the Anchor for providing an outstanding welcome to visitors in the Wye Valley. We live fairly locally and will return soon.

Lovely night spent with friends the they kept the kitchen open especially for us and it was really lovely food. I had the burger and what a burger it was. They keep great beer. Kingstone brewery beer is lovely. You won’t be disappointed!

Came with the dog, who loved to have a run around. The outside seating area is next to a large but enclosed field where dogs are free to run. The burgers were fantastic, I didn't go inside but I had a quick look in and it's all wheelchair accessible and the building is lovely. Lovely all around, definitely worth a visit to this pub and the Tintern Abbey if you live in South Wales or the Severn Valley region. Highly recommended, will be returning.

Found this place by chance. What a great pub food was outstanding lasagna was perfect and not swimming in oil. My husband had the steak pie which was homemade and he said the flavours were delicious. Next time we are in the area we will definitely be back.

Great place to stop for lunch before a visit to the Abbey or walk along the river. Lovely old building with plenty of seating inside and out, and two good sized car parks adjacent. Don't forget to take cash for the machines which the pub will reimburse. Interesting menu with lots of local ingredients and a good selection of vegetarian options. First time I've seen a veggie hunters chicken on a menu, and it was delicious. Staff were also very friendly.

An excellent, massive pub right next to Tintern Abbey. I bet monks used to brew beer here!
A really well considered selection of beer. Nice margarita pizza too with lots of mozzarella. Cheers.

Lovely place to stop with a fantastic view of the Abbey. We sat outside and watched the dogs and children play. The food was amazing and the prices were really reasonable. You have to order at the bar when you sit outside, but it was worth it for such a lovely day!

Had a delightful caesar salad here with the loaded fries, but wished I'd looked at the specials board. It was around £22/person.
The parking was free after 7pm and there was a great view of the Abbey ruins

As a group we only stopped for a drink after visiting the Abby. Very impressed with the place and the contrast between the old stone walled oak beamed bar and the large light airy dining area. Well decorated meals looked amazing
