The Ship Inn

A amazing pub and very dog friendly.
Shown to a secluded table, our request to keep our over friendly dogs contained.
Menu looked amazing, but we only.wanted a light lunch. Can recommend the Smoked Salmon and Prawn salad. it was just perfect for a warm day.
Staff were lovely and there's water and treats available.for the dogs.

We stayed in here as we were attending a wedding at GG's yard, 5 minute drive away (was easy to get a taxi arranged although I advise booking return taxi in advance).

The room was clean, spacious and comfortable.
Communication prior to arrival was spot on and we received a warm welcome when we checked in. They even accommodated a late request for an early check in which was very much appreciated. Despite being above the restaurant, it was peaceful.

The breakfast the next morning was generous and delicious! Sorted out the slight fragility we were feeling from the wedding the night before!

The village is pretty and has nice walks around it. It's also a short drive to the coast.

Highly recommend and we hope to be back :)

Had a lovely evening meal here and were made to feel very welcome with our dog. The staff were very friendly and warm. There was a good range of veggie and vegan options. A great option if looking to eat in the area.

We had a lovely spacious top floor room - perfect as we were travelling with our dog ... easy access to the riverside for late night walks! The bathroom was amazing - big walk in shower and freestanding bath tub. We had a really comfy overnight stay with a delicious meal in the restaurant. Gatehouse of Fleet is a really pretty town with lots of walks nearby and interesting independent shops. We would love to return.

First time staying at the Ship Inn and it could not have been better. We had to slightly amend the dates of arrival and departure just beforehand and this was not a problem at all - done and dusted with no fuss. The staff were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable and the accommodation was great; spacious, clean rooms with fantastic facilities. The restaurant/bar was great, with a great choice of food (a lot of it locally sourced) and drink. Gatehouse of Fleet is a lovely wee place and is an ideal base for wider exploration. We cannot wait to come back!

Long post # Wee had the best time we stayed 3 nights as we were there for a wedding which was only 8 mins away from the ship inn. We arrived Friday & had lunch the steak pie and fish was 10/10. rooms are stunning full place is spotless. Breakfast 10/10 so fresh. Sunday night dinner we had chicken patti, garlic mushrooms then two 12oz steak.10/10 again. The produce they buy is definitely the best. Johnathan & his staff are absolutely amazing nothing was a bother to them.

Staff were lovely and so helpful. I was on a cycling trip and the storage for my bicycle was excellent. Room was great.
Breakfast was very good. Cannot fault my stay and fully intend visiting again.

We loved the Gatehouse of Fleet, a gorgeous little town, so much to learn at the Mill on the Fleet and lovely walks. Electric car charging too. Jonathan and the team were very welcoming. The room was clean and spacious and the restaurant was delicious

Booked three rooms for two nights for our friends 25th anniversary. We had dinner and breakfast both days and spent time in the lovely beer garden too. Hadn’t been to GoF before and will definitely be back to both places.

The Ship is a very nice restaurant, with very nice food and good friendly service. My starter of smoked fish of various types was absolutely delicious. I had steak for mains, which was cooked just right. Not really a pub, more of a restaurant with no handpull ales. A nice couple of comfy seats for pre dinner drinks though.

Although this was a last minute, one night only booking and we never had the opportunity to enjoy breakfast or dinner, the Ship Inn exceeded our expectations by 150%.
Clean and spacious room, modern and clean bathroom, beautiful surroundings in a quaint little town.
Will definitely book here should we find ourselves in Gatehouse of Fleet ever again.

Went there for lunch on a monday. Very nice surroundings, great food choice good quality and value . The staff told us it does get busier and suggest booking if you want an evening meal . We will definately return .

Went here for lunch today. We were late on for lunch (before 2pm) but they accommodated us. The food was lovely and the people that work there are so friendly. Highly recommend. Dog friendly too which was important to us

A wonderful centre for our "Cousins' Reunion'! A very friendly welcome, warm, forgiving staff (and guests) to our sometimes boisterous mealtimes. A real treat of an hotel, in a remarkable village, set within an area of significant beauty and interest. Gatehouse of Fleet is a super 'base camp' for the Solway coast.

I only ever really review the nice places I've been to.. The Ship Inn is most definitely one.. Lovely staff, made to feel very welcome and when we needed to extend our stay at short notice they were very helpful.. in fact I'd say they went above and beyond to accommodate us..

Room was very clean, especially liked the coffee machine with pods.. nice touch 👌

The food was outstanding.. honestly.. you know when you're just happy by eating.. Medium rare steak was bang on.. equally, could eat the Eggs Benedict every day and the breakfast was less than I'd pay for a McDonald's (south of the border).. im editing this review a month on and feel hungry 😄

Its just a short drive away from Carrick Bay and Laggan.. just off the A75.

Went in for lunch with our dog, as this place is dog-friendly. The menu has a great variety of locally sourced food prepared with care. The service was excellent and our dog enjoyed some treats and friendly pats.
Absolutely recommend a visit.
