Absolutely wonderful board games shop that feels like a magical emporium and transported me back to being a kid as soon as I stepped inside. A great blend of traditional and modern games and even rare vintage products. I've been many times now to get educational games, chess sets and jigsaws for my children and treated myself to a vintage solitaire set last Christmas. I've also attended one of their Chess and Cheers games nights at the covered market which was great. The staff are generous, knowledge guides to the world of games and Emily the owner is really friendly and helpful. If you love board games check my out in Oxford or online

Great board game store in Oxford with lots of amazing board games. I have been here a few times and today I bought an interesting board game. I will be returning here soon.

Such a great experience soon as I found that board game I have been hunting for some time. I had to buy it. Such fast postage but sadly I can’t actually visit the store due to distance but would definitely recommend them 😊.

A beautiful shop with lovely staff and very clean display with even vintage boardgames we have not found anywhere else!! I loved the gateway games displayed and great quantity of traditional chest and other games and cards available as well. I felt that it could be even bettered if there are any second hand boardgames available which are a little bit more affordable or a scheme where you can maybe rent them and bring it back since the pricing could be not always affordable for students. Having more small box games displayed could be also lovely since these are more affordable and maybe more inclined to buy on the spot. Lovely place and will love to come back again in the future :)

Wonderful! Beautiful pieces and board, unlike anything else I’ve found. Was skeptical about the high shipping cost to US but it was worth it. Plus, they took care of replacing an item damaged in shipping. I’ll definitely be getting my next high-end set from Hoyle’s.

Amazing shop! I went Christmas present shopping on a very strict budget, and the staff were beyond helpful! They have an awesome selection of games, and would I would definitely recommend visiting/shopping there for any gifts.

Love this place. Knowledgeable and friendly staff are always happy to offer advice on games and puzzles they stock. Great selection of games for differing budgets, ages, and group size. From kids games right through to heavy strategy games, If they don't have what you are looking for, they'll get it or suggest a suitable alternative.

Excellent service.

Ordered an item with next day delivery. It didn't arrive, so I called them on Friday afternoon to query.

They chased it up, and discovered a logistics issue. A replacement arrived next day with a handwritten note apologising. They also refunded the postage without being asked.

What an amazing shop. Full of all sorts of games. Specialist stuff to packs of cards. Chess times to spares (dice, monopoly houses, and replacement spinners) for your games.
I don't think I have seen such a wide range of board games in a single place.
A real gem of a shop.

My fiancee and I visited Hoyle's two years ago and I haven't shut up about their chess sets since! I've always wanted a really good quality chess set and this was the first place I'd seen with such a great selection.

We returned this year and I purchased a beautiful chess set, board and draughts set. When I got the set home I realised that one of the pieces was slightly different to the others. I contacted Phil at Hoyle's and he not only sent me the correct piece, but also paid the postage for me to return the other piece.

A brilliant, independent business with a massive selection of games to choose from. Would recommend to anyone!

I found this gem of a shop a few years ago and absolutely fell in love with it! It’s a family run business with wonderful attentive staff who are always on hand to provide great suggestions and gaming knowledge! I recently purchased a chess board via their online shop which arrived well packaged and super fast and with incredibly fair delivery costs. I honestly couldn’t recommend this lovely shop more! Shop independent people!!

Brilliant little independent shop at the bottom of the High Street that's particularly ideal for browsing for birthday and Christmas gifts. As an aside, their website has one of the most thoughtful, genuine and comprehensive sustainability policy sections I've seen. Recommended!

The shop stocks a large range of chess sets, mah Jong, go, backgammon, magic tricks, jigsaw puzzles, children's board games, trivia, fantasy role-playing, stem, metal puzzles, playing cards, vintage toys and games. It's a real treasure trove of interesting stuff that will interest young and old. It's quite refreshing to see this kind of shop, instead of the usual over priced lego, blind bags, funko pop, LOL, Ryan's world, etc., that other toy shops seem to only stock these days. Highly recommended.

I found Hoyles online and had never heard of them before. I purchased a game of Catan for a gift, it arrived very quickly in perfect condition, environmentally friendly packaging too! I will deal with you again whenever I need something. Thank you.
