Clever and simple solution for avoiding single use packaging, delivered. Good selection of staples of a good quality, decent range of organic options.

I found ZWBF after Goodclub.co.uk wrapped up suddenly and just transferred all of its customers to Abel & Co.

The use of the bags, rather than tubs, to send refill staples is genius. The space and weight saved is so much more energy efficient than tubs that need collecting.

I think they are a smaller operation than their website might make them seem. A local independent business doing good work and entrepreneurially expanding their customer base to nationwide.

My only criticism, a possible place for improvement opposed to a significant fault with the service, is the spending threshold to avoid postage charges. It steers you toward larger orders, causing two inconveniences: not being able to top up as needed and needing to return more bags than will fit through a postbox slot, necessitating a trip to the Post Office.

I don't expect ZWBF to absorb this postage cost, but I would rather pay a smaller monthly fee for a set number of deliveries over a time period or be able to purchase a "block" of smaller deliveries (like a punchcard of delivery vouchers); thus spreading the postage costs across orders of differing size. It would work better for grocery shopping than needing to meet a (fairly high) spend threshold or pay £6 for each delivery. It would allow me to not need to bulk order everything at once. I could easier manage storage across my limited jars and cupboard space, plus my habit of forgetting one or two things would not result in a choice between paying a postage charge or going without until all the other stuff runs out! I would probably end up buying more overall.

P.S. more coffee options would be great, especially some decaf (Swiss water method) 💕

I ordered Austrian pumpkin seeds from ZWBF. Seeds came quickly in the mail. Inside was a cloth bag of seeds and paper envelope to return the bag. I initially went to the post office thinking I had to get a stamp, just to realise I simply just had to slip it in the nearest mailbox. Fantastic and sustainable business model. I highly appreciate the product and service.

I love shopping from Zero Waste Bulk Foods. They stock a wide range of exactly the products we eat, the order comes quickly and I love the fact that we can send back our bags to be cleaned and re-used.

Very impressed with their system, all the packaging we received was reusable bags and indeed they included a freepost return envelope. A well thought out service that works. Excellent idea and passionate owner and colleague, which shows in the service provided. Sell small quantities for someone on their own. Organic produce and quality products, no ‘bottom of the barrel’ dust. Love the ease of sending empty eco bags back for reuse. Easy to use website. All questions answered quickly. Quick delivery. Love the chocolate peanuts and Sosmix, and the olive oil soap is excellent quality. Very happy.

ZWBF have been great, always a good selection of essentials plus nice treats too! (Charcoal soap that is gorgeous) The reusable bags you can return are a brilliant addition.

I ordered some Austrian pumpkin seeds from ZWBF - much prefer them to the Chinese ones and was very impressed when I read about the ZWBF ethos. The seeds arrived very quickly, were very well packaged in a re-usable bag and an envelope was included for me to send the bag back free of charge. I think it's a great way of doing things and I will certainly use them again.

I've recently started on a new health journey to improve the way I eat and ultimately help me ease the pain of a medical condition. I was looking to incorporate beans and pulses rather than potatoes and pasta into my diet, but the supermarket packed theirs (what little range they have), in unrecyclable packaging.

I wanted to do all that I could, not to negatively impact the planet with my new food choices, so I set about searching online.

A short while later, I found Zero Waste Bulk Foods and it held all the things I was looking for and more. They are cheaper compared to other sites I found, but the clincher for me, was the fabulous system they have in place for returning the hessian bags they ship their goods in. I could have spent so, so much more but had to reign myself in. However, I purchased their Farro grain, my first time ever trying it and it has become a staple in my diet now; a shampoo bar, which leave my hair very soft and free of any residual build up and some over baked snacks.

The goods arrived quickly, wrapped in nothing but eco-friendly p0ackaging. Everything was delicious and fresh.

I highly recommend giving ZWBF's a try - they are really good value for money.

All packaged in paper or the clear packaging which looks like plastic but is in fact wood pulp and 100% home compostable! It was all reasonably priced and perfect for Plastic Free July and beyond.
