Tesco Extra

This is my favourite Tesco in Reading.

The cafe is excellent value for money. The window seating is great. I enjoy the vegan breakfast, which is a generous helping of food. It's cooked well and very tasty. There are spacious toilets near to the cafe.

The store itself is well-stocked and intuitively laid out. The fresh produce is first-rate. There are quite a few bargain sections if you know where to look. The world foods aisle offers a variety of different cuisines.

It's wheelchair-friendly.

There are both standard checkouts and self-service tills.

There's a pharmacy, an optician, and a branch of Timpson's within the store. There's a food bank. A cash machine outside. Lots of free parking. Numerous disabled parking spaces close to the entrance.

I used Click & Collect for groceries (1-2pm Sat 11 November- please check staff rota as they a credit to you!) for the first time here! I was late for my slot and the team couldn’t have been nicer. Had my order ready to go. I also didn’t realise it was non bagged so they very kindly then helped me pack my car. Lots of friendly helpful fun! Would now do this again thanks to the guys there. Stuart & a lovely other guy I didn’t catch his name. Thankyou! No substitutions either so great all round!

Just had my phone upgrade under the Tesco scheme and had a rewarding experience in the central reading store( by the river).As it was a Saturday I dealt with a young lad named Shobhan who was helping out in the phone dept.He was extremely patient with me as I am an OAP and got the
new Nokia going and transferred my old data from my ex phone.I would recommend anyone in a similar situation to use this branch/ assistant as they weren't particularly busy and had plenty of time to
help,and find Shobhan as he was very patient..Jim( Reading)

Great experience visited the Tesco mobile section as ive just upgraded and wanted a protective cover
Unfortunately it was out of stock but he took me to a different section of the store and found a product that was a great substitute
I then asked another assistant who was restocking near the make up aisle to direct me to the spices and pulses aisle which she did and offered to take me there which was kind but I declined as her directions were spot on
I got what I wanted and proceeded to the self checkout where another wonderful member of staff showed me how to use my Tesco rewards vouchers
Overall great experience instore today and wished I lived closer as I’m from the area of Lower Earley where the big A is evidently closer to me as my mobility is not very good

Always get what I want. Most days staff are very friendly and helpful. Big, spacious shop with a big variety of everything.

The staff were amazing at Tesco mobile and were so helpful and gave amazing advice too. Would recommend this place to everyone.

Staff are very helpful in this store. I was struggling around with two hand baskets as I didn’t have a coin for a trolley and a young man stocking shelves, stopped and went and found me one. Much appreciated. Staff on tills very friendly as well.

With the current postal strike, received some Clubcard Money Off Shopping Vouchers late in the post, the first money off voucher was valued at £7 off for the previous week, I had already spent over £80 that week, as the vouchers arrived late it was not possible to use it then.

Went to Customer Service to explain the above situation to a mature grey haired lady working there, she was quite rude and wasn't interested in hearing out what happened at all, she just told me to call Clubcard and sent me away abruptly.

Later spoke to a very nice lady manager at the checkout area, she had spared some time to hear the situation above, she understood the postal strike caused late delivery of the money off vouchers.

She was able to offer a £7 giftcard, the lady manager took me back to Customer Service Area to sort out the giftcard, the initial mature grey haired lady at Customer Service was moaning to the manager not to offer me the £7 giftcard, the manager told her it was alright and proceed with issuing the £7 giftcard.

It is lucky that this Tesco have a nice Manager that actually care and hear the full story then try to help, this nice lady manager is a credit to your store, 5 star service for her.

In future, I hope the mature grey hair Customer Service lady at least hear out any problems raised by any future customers before brushing them off, she is the first point of contact to solve customer issues, service with a smile would have been nice too

Get yourself a Clubcard if you haven’t already. Meal deals are still a steal

Tescos is good, got lots of parking, does click and collect, got basket and trolly self service, a pharmacy, lunch meal deal section at the front. World food section and home section. Pretty much everything you will need. And it has electric parking bays.

Very good stock availability and reasonable prices

Brilliant customer service, I asked for a product that I saw was online, but not of the shelves and Sajad went above and beyond to check the warehouses and bring me what I had hoped for. Fantastic, I was very pleased

One of my favourite supermarkets in Reading. Great variety of products. I particularly like the world food section with products from Asia, Caribbean and even Brazil. There is a Holland & Barrett inside, which is very convenient. Plenty of cashiers but it can get busy at times. Fresh fruits and veggies are good. The selection of wines could be better but it is not my priority at a supermarket.

Its good shop to buy daily essential products. Also has some Indian food products.

Helpful staff and a good variety of products. Everything you need. It offers food, drink, clothes, electrical home appliances, gaming and phones, an optician, a pharmacy and a new Holland and Barret section. It's also a good place for last minute gifts and has a range of cards. Would highly recommend this shop! Very good opening hours too.

It's nice to get discount price than Tesco express. I always suggests to go to Extra and buy all bulk items like groceries, and other house hold items at cheap cost.

Everything you need under one roof. Holland and Barrett is an added bonus. Normal stuff like pharmacy clothing Vision express is a given. Best thing is parking there’s loads and loads of parking available (3hrs maximum free)
All in all great place for your food and n good shopping

Convenient Tesco in the heart of Reading town.

Great place to shop. Full shelves, friendly staff and great produce.

Great staff and size of store, good range but not too big so isn't overwhelming. Signs are pretty clear. Online orders, click and collect as well as pharmacy, opticians and cafe available in store.
