Daunt Books

Beautiful book shop! Lovely bright lighting inside and it is very clean. I especially love the window display with changing books. Would love to see if they have second hand section as well.

Finally, after months of patient waiting and heightened expectation, Summertown has a bookshop again. Staff are friendly and try to remind you of hygiene rules; the shelves are well-stocked; there is plenty of space.
I found the selection sensible, including smaller publishers (such as those producing volumes on modern Georgian literature, in Georgian with facing English translation). I like forward to making this a favourite haunt of North Oxford.

They hold really interesting talks and events with a wide range of topics and authors, accompanied by a nice glass of wine!

The booksellers are so informative and happy to assist you, especially Elizabeth, she was great at recommending books for a very specific request (quite the talent).

It’s great that Daunt Books supports a diverse range of authors and provides a safe space for everyone to enjoy, and I love seeing the lively window displays as I walk past 😊

A relatively new book shop however, always assured of a wholesome read. Allow additional time for your visit - it's not an easy shop to exit, as there's always something to catch one's eye as you try to leave!

Having now moved further away from the centre of Oxford, Daunt is handier for me. It's smaller than Blackwells and Waterstones but has a much more friendly, family feel rather than other high-street chains.

The staff are extremely helpful and couldn't have done enough. I ended up having a really useful talk with them about their books and book tokens. Nothing was too much trouble and you would have thought I was a long loyal customer. This was my first visit. Suitably impressed, I went back the next day with my tokens to make a purchase and they remembered who I was and what I had been looking for - and they didn't need to look at a computer to tell them that either.

I do really like the decor/style. Fresh but quite homely without being 'chain' in style.

Very good book shop for non fiction books. Wheelchair friendly. Loved the selection of hardback books and the way that the classics book section was arranged so it looked super aesthetically pleasing.

Having visited the Daunt Books in London, was pleased to see the one in Oxford was just as fantastic. Great range of books, friendly staff and everything you'd want from a top quality bookstore.

Great little book shop. The fiction section is a little small compared to the size of the non fiction element but perhaps that's because I only like fiction! Great to see this lovely shop in the heart of Summertown.

Cute little bookshop. Right by a Gales if you’d like something to eat, and super kind staff. The YA section is a little small, but it still has all the greats :)

This is an attractive, handy, and friendly local bookshop, and it has been a tremendous achievement for them to open during the pandemic. Excellent selection of books as well.
