This is one of the most beautiful bookshops in Cheshire. The bookshop features thousands of invaluable and vintage collections across diverse subjects. They are elegantly distributed across its cellar, three floors and an attic. The staff is so kind that she led me to the relevant bookshelves after inquiry of an author. This is undoubtedly one of pilgrimage sites for book lovers.

What a fascinating emporium of second-hand books. Five floors divided in dozens of sections, plus little areas where you could sit and browse books in more detail. We went in out of curiosity, and have never seen anything like this place. The staff were lovely, and very accommodating of our Dalmatian.

Quaint little bookstore with little chairs on each floor in little nooks to allow you to briefly read the book before buying. Staff were lovely.

Fantastic old fashioned book shop on multiple level. Great selection from modern novels and biographies to hard to find historic reference material. A real trove for any keen browser and reader.

Beautiful bookshop, like something out of hogwarts! 5 stories of all the books you can imagine, tons of little hideys for you to dissappear and read in - Kids loved exploring and finding all sorts, brilliant place!

Tremendous book shop! Spread over five floors, full of used books in great condition, with many corners to hide with a cup of tea (which you make yourself!) and read in an armchair. Artisan book restorers work in store, there's a lovely little museum in the cellar, there's a harmonium you can play in the music department, kid-size chairs and soft toys in the children's department and friendly, kind staff. Absolutely nothing to fault, well worth your time.

What a delightful place. Huge selection of books over 5 floors, with a small 'museum' in the cellar. Large proportion are hardbacks and they have a rare /first edition /signed collection of books. Can also but some online via Abe Books.
If you like books, well worth a visit.

An amazing book store that has an incredible amount of books that cover 5 floors!
If you love your vintage books, you'll have a great time. I was in love with their basement, such a great atmosphere for exploring books of all genres!

Amazing bookshop to get lost in for a while. It’s spread across many levels with a detailed map of what’s on each floor.

One of the best bookshops I’ve been to. Lots of chairs dotted around for you to sit and browse the books. Very good collection of books too. A proper bookshop

We love second hand book stores and this is probably the best we've been to!
We went during the Covid pandemic and so they had strict rules on numbers of people inside. They gave us a time to stay till and said that if we hear a gong after that time to go downstairs to pay and leave as someone else would be waiting. It was a simple but effective system but we would love to visit during normal times as we both think we could have stayed here for a whole day exploring the shelves!
Inside is five floors crammed to the brim with books from all ages, subjects and rarities. If you are looking for a particular subject or author the chances are it will be in here. If you want something cheap, many books are just a couple of pounds, or you can find rare limited first editions for over £100! You can even find books signed by your favourite authors.
It's not just books though. Inside you will learn about the history of the building and the area, you will find maps and other intriguing decorations and you can bring in your old tatty books to be rebound.
By far my favourite thing was the tiny book earrings! Apparently they held a staff competition to bind the smallest books and now the winner has started making the most adorable earrings!
If you're a lover of books or anything a little quirky, this is a must see when Buxton.

Fantastic book shop, with so much choice and spread over such a big area, i highly recommend anyone to go and take a look. I wouldn't say its the most wheelchair friendly place, i didn't see a lift, and there a quite a few flights of stairs. there is arm chairs, sofas, stools, and seats on every floor. There are maps to show you exactly where each section is on each floor. I Wish i had found the shop earlier, and highly recommend to anyone visiting. they do teas and coffees (instant) on a honesty scheme with a few cakes/biscuits. Cant wait to go back and explore in more detail

This shop is a treasury & the staff were lovely too! I only wish I had enough time to do the shelves here justice, but... I don't feel there's enough time in the day... Recommended.

Great selection of books, old and new. The shop also does bookbinding repairs. Good place for a good old rummage around and find something interesting.
